Abu Dhabi Ports Launches Feeder Service

Abu Dhabi Ports has established a new feeder services company, SAFEEN FEEDERS, to serve the group’s mainliner shipping clients in the Gulf region.SAFEEN FEEDERS will introduce a new feeder service linking Abu Dhabi to ports serving the UAE, the broader Gulf region and Indian Sub-Continent. Azerbaijan Launches Feeder Service in Black Sea

The Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) will launch a test voyage of a feeder vessel along the Black Sea container route Batumi-Constanta by September 20.The vessel will sail every 10 days (3 times a month). Unifeeder Intros New Sweden-Poland Service

Sweden's Port of Gävle will be included on the rotation of the newly launched Unifeeder Sweden-Poland Service.According to Yilport Gavle, this is the first commercial feeder service ever to directly connect the Swedish east coast to Poland with a weekly service.The service will start from Gdansk and then call Gdynia, Gavle, Norrkoeping, and back to Gdansk. New COSCO Service Between UK, Europe, Russia

Chinese state-owned shipping and logistics services supplier company COSCO Shipping Lines announced a new COSCO feeder service from St Petersburg, Russia will begin calling at DP World Southampton."COSCO is to introduce a new weekly call at DP World Southampton, as part of a rotation including St Petersburg, Russia; Kotka, Finland; Southampton, UK; and Rotterdam, Netherlands," said a press release.The news comes after COSCO confirmed in February that DP World Southampton will be a permanent call on its feeder service. Crowley Launches New Caribbean Shipping Service

Crowley Maritime Corp.’s liner services group announced today that it has launched a new feeder shipping service connecting San Juan, Puerto Rico; Rio Haina, Dominican Republic; and St. Croix and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI).With the new service, vessels depart Rio Haina on Sundays and arrive in San Juan on Tuesdays. After departure on Thursdays, cargo arrives in St. Thomas and St. Croix on Fridays, before the vessel moves to the Dominican Republic again for Sunday operations.

Milaha Rolls Out Qatar-Iraq Direct Container Feeder Service

Qatar-based maritime transport and logistics conglomerate Milaha has announced the launch of a direct container feeder service between Qatar and Iraq. The new service, which will be an expansion of the existing Qatar-Kuwait service that the company launched last year, will follow a Hamad Port-Umm Qasr (Iraq)-Shuwaikh (Kuwait)-Hamad Port rotation, and will be initially served by one vessel with a 1,015 TEU capacity and 110 reefer plugs. The service will have a transit time of 2 days, making it particularly ideal for dry and refrigerated food stuff, consumer electronics, and construction materials, among other cargo. Milaha Rolls Out Sri Lanka-Bangladesh Feeder Service

Qatar-based maritime transport and logistics conglomerate Milaha is launching a direct feeder service between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. "Milaha has announced the launch of a direct feeder service between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Colombo and Chittagong will be the 7th and 8th new ports of call for Milaha this year, and is part of the significant service expansion since the beginning of 2017," says a statement from the company. The new service, called BCX, will be operated via two vessels of effective capacity 1,200 TEUs, and will start in the second half of November, following a Colombo-Chittagong-Colombo rotation with a transit time of 5 days. The service will cater to the general consumer goods and garments industry in Bangladesh, a high growth market.

Fujairah Terminals Welcomes First Container Feeder Vessel

The newly established Fujairah Terminals, under the management of Abu Dhabi Ports, has welcomed its first container feeder vessel, the Dubai Alliance, reported Gulf News. This is the first ship to arrive at the terminal, which is wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of commercial and community ports within the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Fujairah Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), following the signing of a concession agreement with the Port of Fujairah in June this year. Under a 35-year concession, Abu Dhabi Ports has the exclusive rights to develop port infrastructure and undertake operations for containers, general cargo, roll-on roll-off and cruise ships.

Maersk Postpones Oman-to-Qatar Container Service

Maersk Line, a part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, said on Monday the first container feeder service into Qatar will depart Oman on June 26, later than a planned June 19 start.   To avoid trade restrictions imposed on Qatar by Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and others, Maersk Line said this month it would deliver cargo to Qatar by transferring containers on to smaller vessels in Oman and traveling on from there.   The first feeder shipment is expected to depart Salalah, Oman, on June 26 and arriving in Doha on June 30, Maersk said. A spokesman was not immediately able to say why the first shipment had been delayed.   Maersk Line plans to make the feeder service available every 10 days.
