Antwerp Port Gears Up for Indian Trade Mission

True to its annual tradition the port of Antwerp is organizing a trade mission to India in February this year. Port Authority chairman Marc Van Peel will be accompanied on his visit to Delhi and Mumbai by Pieter De Crem, the Belgian secretary of state for Foreign Trade. The agenda includes among other things the annual Port of Antwerp reception, the presentation of an award to the Indian forwarders’ association and the opening of a new course offered by JNPT APEC Port Training Centre that was set up in Mumbai last year in close collaboration with APEC, the Antwerp training centre for maritime professionals. The port of Antwerp has been investing for several years now in strengthening collaboration with the Indian business world and local authorities.

WISTA India's Workshop on Managing Customers

WISTA India proved that they are committed to enhancing skiil of all women in the Maritime Industry . On 17th April they organised a workshop on "Manage your customers" at India's premier Business school SP Jain Institute of Management and Research. “ Managing Difficult Customers “ was such an eye opener on how we, while selling ,  focus only on  pushing down prices , not realizing that in doing so, we are  not adding any value to the client or to our business in the long run. Knowing the customer, going deep into his needs, “LISTENING” , understanding his product + supply chain , and THEN giving a customized solution is what we need to do. And Prof Murty illustrated this so beautifully and effortlessly.

Ravi Capoor, Jt. Commerce Secretary Meets FFFAI

Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India (FFFAI) convened conference and a meeting at FFFAI – Mumbai office of its members with Mr. Ravi Capoor, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce to brief members on International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC). FFFAI is doing a dry run study of the bottlenecks on the INSTC route. Mr. Ravi Capoor in his briefing said that there are 4 emerging markets in the world, namely ASEAN, LATIN, AFRICAN and CIS countries. Indian companies are trading with ASEAN, LATIN, AFRICAN, countries but till date their presence in CIS countries is not substantial. He said that after 1991 when integrated USSR collapsed, there was huge economic mayhem and during the same period simultaneously in India there was economic liberalization.

Shantanu Bhadkamkar Takes Over As Chairman Of IFCBA

Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Immediate Past Chairman of Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations In India (FFFAI) was unanimously elected as Chairman of International Federation of Customs Brokers Association (IFCBA) at the Board of Directors Meeting of IFCBA held in Seoul, Korea recently. Bhadkamkar is the Managing Director (Group CEO) of ATC Group,a leading Customs Broker & International Freight Forwarder in India. Apart from being Chairman of IFCBA and Immediate Past Chairman of FFFAI, he is the Sr. Vice – President of Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture (MACCIA, Vice –President of Association of Multimodal Transport Operators In India (AMTOI) and Immediate Past Chairman of Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP).
