Grandweld Delivers Four New Tugs for Shuwaikh Port

Grandweld Shipyard in Dubai has delivered four new tractor tugs for operations in Kuwait’s Shuwaikh Port.The four TRAktor 2700-Z vessels Ghanim-1, Ghanim-2, Ghanim-3 and Ghanim-4 were designed by Robert Allan Ltd., who worked closely with the Grandweld Shipyard to develop the customized design of the previously built 27-meter TRAktor tug series. Grandweld Building New Tugs for Kuwait Ports

Dubai shipbuilder Grandweld Shipyards held a keel laying ceremony for two of total four high-performance TRAktor 2700-Z tugs, on January 26, 2022.The tugs were ordered by Specialities Construction for General Trading and Contracting Company (SCC) and will be operated by Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) in Kuwait’s Shuwaikh Port. Expected to enter service by August 2022, the tugs can perform multiple tasks including ship assist, escort, towing, fire fighting, oil pollution response and others.Robert Allan Ltd.

First RAstar 2800-CL ASD Escort Tug Delivered

Svitzer Suez 1, the first RAstar 2800-CL ASD escort tug, has been delivered to Svitzer Egypt LLC by Cheoy Lee Shipyards and will soon commence operations in the Suez Canal. Seychelles Ports Authority Takes Delivery of New Tug

Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) recently completed technical acceptance of a new azimuth stern drive (ASD) tug from Sanmar Shipyards in Turkey. The latest addition to the SPA fleet is another of the Sanmar flagship RAmparts 2400SX, designed by Robert Allan Limited exclusively for Sanmar and designated the Bogacay XLI.Mobilization has already commenced under the direction of a Sanmar delivery crew. Sanmar Delivers New Svitzer Tug in Port of Sohar

Turkish tug building specialist Sanmar Shipyards followed up on recent deliveries of the two Sirapinar class ASD tugs to Oman's Port of Sohar with the delivery of the first of a three part order of the larger and more powerful Bigacay class ASD tugs. The arrival of this tug to the Port of Sohar, alongside its two sisters due shortly, will conclude the fleet development aims of the operator Svitzer and Port of Sohar; agreed as part of the 15 year renewal of the former's marine services contract, awarded in early 2019.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has announced the delivery of the Escort/Rescue Z-Drive Tug Ava M. McAllister for McAllister Towing, Inc. on May 31, 2019. This Escort/Rescue Z-Drive Tug design is provided by Jensen Maritime Consultants and is issued a USCG Sub-M Certificate of Inspection (COI). The vessel arrived at Eastern in 2018.The Ava M. McAllister (ESG Hull #222) is from the same 100’ Z-drive tug design provided by Jensen Maritime Consultants of Seattle, WA as the Rosemary McAllister (ESG Hull #224) and the upcoming Capt. Jiangsu Wuxi Shipyard delivered the ship-assist tug Lima, a Robert Allan Ltd. RAmparts 2400-W design to TRAMARSA in Peru recently. Gulf Island Delivers Z-Tech Tugs

American manufacturer Gulf Island Shipyards has completed the second of 10 Z-Tech 30-80 tugs, five of which were ordered by Suderman & Young Towing Co.Once completed, these tugs will be operated in ports on the Texas Gulf Coast by G&H Towing Co, said a press release from Robert Allan Ltd.The Z-Tech 30-80 tug Ted C. Litton evolved from the previous Z-Tech 7500 design for Suderman & Young. Designed and built with a sponsoned hull form, escort capability of the tug is significantly enhanced.The design incorporates the best handling and operational characteristics of both Z-drive tractor tugs, Azimuthing Stern-Drive (ASD) tugs and the unique RAstar series hull form.The new Z-Tech series tugs are intended for operation primarily in major ports and marine terminals.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group has announced the launch of the Escort/Rescue ZDrive Tug CAPT. JIM McALLISTER for McAllister Towing on March 19, 2019.This Escort/Rescue Z-Drive Tug design provided by Jensen Maritime Consultants is currently under construction at Eastern’s Allanton facility. Next Generation of Z-Tech Tugs Arrive

At the end of 2018, Gulf Island Shipyards completed the first of ten Z-Tech 30-80 tugs, five of which were ordered by Bay Houston Towing Company through its operator G & H Towing Company in Galveston, Texas. The Z-Tech 30-80 tug Mark E. Kuebler evolved from the previous Z-Tech 7500 design for the same owner. Once again, the design team and client worked seamlessly addressing operational challenges the vessel will face. A main feature of this latest Z-Tech is incorporating Robert Allan Ltd.’s unique RAstar series sponsoned hull form into the existing Z-Tech design.

Fast Support Vessel Delivered for SEACOR

Louisiana shipbuilder Gulf Craft has delivered the third vessel in a series of new class monohull fast support vessels (FSV) for SEACOR Marine.According to designer Incat Crowther, the vessel Libby L. McCall advances the traditional offshore support vessel model and offers a more cost efficient, comfortable, flexible, and safe option to helicopter transportation.The vessel features redundancy to mitigate against down time or loss of functionality due to mechanical complications.

Eight Robert Allan Tugs for Persero

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) has taken delivery of the first eight, of a total 15, RAzer ASD tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd. The two RAzer 2960, two RAzer 2935 and four RAzer 2940 tugs are part of a major terminal expansion and fleet renewal program undertaken by Pelindo III in its operational territory. The RAzer 2960s and RAzer 2935s were built by PT Daya Radar Utama Shipyards in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the RAzer 2940s were built by PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyards in Surabaya, Indonesia. These will be the first Robert Allan Ltd. tugs to be designed specifically to operate from major ports in Indonesia, including the new container port of Terminal Teluk Lamong, near Surabaya.

Eastern Delivers Tractor Tug to McAllister

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. has delivered the Twin Z-drive Reverse Tractor Tug JEFFREY McALLISTER to McAllister Towing and Transportation Co., Inc. on January 13, 2017. McAllister is honoring Captain Jeffrey McAllister as the vessels namesake. Capt. Jeffrey McAllister is a member of the fifth generation working at McAllister Towing. Jeff began his McAllister career in 1973 at the age of 18 when he worked as a deckhand on the fleet’s offshore crew boats. His rise at the company was attained the old-fashioned way by working his way up the hawse pipe. He worked on numerous McAllister tugs stationed everywhere from Aruba, Bonaire and eventually landing in the Port of New York. In 1977 he became a tug captain and in 1986 became a docking pilot.

US, Singapore, Thai Navies Complete CARAT

Ships from the Republic of Singapore navy, Royal Thai navy and U.S. Navy completed a three-day multilateral Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise in the South China Sea May 12. The three-day exercise included a broad spectrum of naval competencies and maritime security training aimed at enhancing cooperation and interoperability amongst the three navies. The navies are long-time maritime partners under the CARAT series, which began in 1995 with Thailand and Singapore as original participants in the exercise series. The multilateral engagement follows initiative to make some phases of the CARAT exercise series multilateral.

U.K towage company Targe Towing ltd. signed a contract with Sanmar Shipyards for the purchase of tugboat Bogacay 26 two weeks ago. Bogacay 26 started her maiden journey immediately after the contract signing and arrived Aberdeen last week. Washburn & Doughty Wins Hybrid Tug Orders

East Boothbay, Maine based Washburn & Doughty said it has secured a contract with Harbor Docking and Towing, of Lake Charles, La., to design and build two 93’ x 38’ Hybrid Z Drive Tugs. The 93’ x 38’ hull is a proven design with 18 tugs in operation and 4 under construction. The vessel will be built as a Harbor Assist Vessel as defined in USCG Subchapter M and admeasure less than 200 gross tons U.S. regulatory tonnage. Canada’s Asterix Completes Navy Trials

Canada’s first Resolve-Class Naval Support Ship, Asterix, has been formally accepted by the Department of National Defense and has now entered full operational service with the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) following a period of at-sea trials and testing, announced Davie Shipbuilding and Federal Fleet Services. Asterix performed daily replenishment-at-sea (RAS) exercises with the RCN and conducted extensive RCAF CH-148 Cyclone helicopter operations to prove and demonstrate the capabilities of the Resolve-Class Naval Support Ship.
