Incat Crowther to Design Patrol Vessel for Queensland

Incat Crowther reports it has been chosen to design an aluminum patrol vessel for Queensland’s Department of Environment and Science. Sound Energy Reports Progress On Moroccan, Italian Licences

Sound Energy, the European/Mediterranean focused upstream gas company, is pleased to provide the following update on its Moroccan and Italian gas portfolio. Further to the recently announced signatures with Schlumberger of both the strategic partnership across Europe and Africa and the Field Management Agreement specifically on Tendrara, the Company has now signed a Letter of Intent with Entrepose Drilling Morocco for the supply of a HH300 rig for the first two wells on the licence (which are expected to be back to back). The Company, post the recently announced transaction with Schlumberger, will retain operatorship and a 27.5% effective net working interest with a 20% effective net paying interest for the first well (increasing to 25% for the second and third wells).

Travelers Appoints Bill Queen as President of Ocean Marine

The Travelers Companies, Inc. announced that Bill Queen has been named President of Travelers Ocean Marine. In this role, Queen is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Travelers Ocean Marine business. "Bill's extensive management experience has prepared him well for this role," said Jim Chapman, President of the Travelers First Party Group. Since joining the First Party Group four years ago, Queen has become increasingly involved with the Ocean Marine organization.

XL Establishes Inland Marine Field Ops

To put its marine insurance experience closer to their clients, agents and brokers, the Marine insurance unit at XL Group plc (NYSE: XL) announced additional underwriting appointments further establishing its inland marine field operation. XL’s new Inland Marine Field team includes Michael Perrotti, Senior Vice President, Marine Field Operations based in Cleveland, Ken Mueller, Regional Vice President in Atlanta, and Ryan Faris, Marine Underwriter in New York. According to Richard DeSimone, President of XL’s US Ocean and Inland Marine unit, “New York, Cleveland and Atlanta are key trading hubs. Weeks Marine to Build Ocean Going Dredges

Investment Based on U.S. Commitment to ‘Private Sector First’ Philosophy Announcement Coincides with Annual National Dredging Meeting in Washington, DC Washington, DC._WEEKS MARINE Inc. (WMI), an ENR top 100 construction contractor with deep roots in the New York maritime community and based in Cranford, NJ, today formally announces two major additions to its considerable dredge, tugboat, booster, hopper barge, and industrial workboat fleet. By the end of 2011, the Weeks 315, a new ocean class, 30-inch, hydraulic cutter suction dredge will join Weeks Marine’s large and diverse pipeline dredge fleet. Approximately two years later, a new large class, 8,500 cubic yard hopper dredge, the Weeks 475, will become WMI’s third hopper dredge.

Offshore Recovery Stalled For Now

As crude oil prices reach Gulf War highs and recent memories of historic low crude prices fade, capital spending on finding and developing new oil reserves continue to play catch up. "The recent oil-price crisis set back non-OPEC output growth for at least a year," a recent report released by Deutsche Banc Alex. Analysts say there is a lag time for exploration spending to play catch up with oil prices - for every one month when crude prices are below the cost of production, it takes three months of high prices to regain the volume of production lost during the low cost period. Crude prices began to rebound from lows near $10 a barrel when OPEC and other major producers cut crude production to raise prices in March 1999.
