SE Asian Shipowners Meet in Japan

Tokyo Big Sight Conference Tower hosted the Southeast Asia Maritime Summit yesterday as a part of the Sea Japan 2018 exhibition. The packed conference hall was the stage for executives from five major ship associations -- Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association; Thai Shipowners’ Association; Filipino Shipowners’ Association; Malaysia Shipowners’ Association; and the Singapore Shipping Association -- to discuss the impact of increasing amounts of global emissions regulations as well as digitalization on their country's shipowners. InterManager Appoints New Team

Gerardo A. Borromeo

InterManager, the international trade association for in-house and third party ship managers, has today appointed Gerardo Borromeo as its new President with immediate effect. Mr Borromeo, who was elected unopposed [October 11] InterManager AGM in Copenhagen, succeeds Alastair Evitt, Managing Director of Meridian Marine Management, who has completed his two-year term of office. FSA Hosts Lunch for New IMO Secretary General

The Filipino Shipowners Association (FSA) Joint Manning Group (JMG) honored IMO Secretary General Koji Sekimizu at a welcome lunch, held at the Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati. Attended by stakeholders from the various sectors of the Philippine maritime industry, the event also featured discussions on crucial issues, which include the STCW Manila Amendments, the EMSA report on the country’s compliance to STCW requirements, anti-piracy efforts, and the importance of Filipino seafarers to the world’s merchant fleet. The Joint Manning Group is composed of the Philippine Maritime Industry’s five leading manning agencies – the Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment Inc.
