Grand Bahama Shipyard Stayed Busy in 2016

The Caribbean shipyard Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited (GBSL) worked on 49 commercial vessels and 20 cruise ships throughout 2016, with scope of works ranging from major steel fabrication and repairs, to engine and technical systems overhauls, hull treatment and tank cleanings. And looking to 2017 and beyond, the yard reports it has a healthy order book, with docking periods secured as far ahead as three years. VShips USA brought two bulk carriers, CSL Acadian and CSL Argosy, to GBSL to do tank cleaning on both vessels. CSL Acadian also received extensive pipe work.

IZAR Sestao Launches 11,300-cu. M. Dredger

The Sestao Shipyard launched yesterday, the newbuilding number 324, a suction dredger with a capacity of 11,300 cu. m. The Filippo Brunelleschi, will be delivered next September and will go to work in Southeast Asia, where it will be used to gain land to the sea. This dredger is the first of a series of two, the second one will be launched in April. These, as well as the previous ships Juan Sebastián de Elcano and Kaishuu, of 16,000 cu. m., will be operated by the same Belgian shipowner, Jan de Nul, and will execute similar activities. Filippo Brunelleschi and its twin ship are smaller than their predecessors, but are able to dredge to a major depth and are better manageable.

Vessels:IZAR Sestao Launches 11,300-cu. m. Dredger

The Sestao Shipyard has launched the newbuilding number 324, a suction dredger with a capacity of 11,300 cu. m. Known as Filippo Brunelleschi, the vessel will be delivered next September and will go to work in Southeast Asia. This dredger is the first of a series of two, the second one will be launched in April. These, as well as the previous ships Juan Sebastián de Elcano and Kaishuu, of 16,000 cu. m., will be operated by the same Belgian shipowner, Jan de Nul. Filippo Brunelleschi and its twin ship are smaller than their predecessors, but are able to dredge to a major depth and are better manageable. First of a twin vessels contract signed with the Belgium dredger operator, Jan de Nul N.V., Filippo Brunelleschi is a trailing suction hopper dredger with a 11,300 cu.
