First of 10 Newbuilds Delivered for FureBear JV

The first vessel in a series of 10 newbuilds has been delivered to FureBear, a 50/50 joint venture between Sweden's Furetank and Canada's Algoma Central Corporation.Fure Vanguard is a dual-fuel ice class 1A 17,999 DWT product tanker built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China.The FureBear JV was formed in 2022 with an initial order for four ships. Later that year, the partners placed an order for four additional vessels, and in 2023 they ordered two more ships.

Furetank Orders Two More Vessels

Furetank adds another two Vinga vessels to the order line. Upon delivery, Furetank’s fleet will consist entirely of environmentally proven, top standard vessels with an average age of two years, the company said."We did our homework. Furetank and Algoma JV Orders Two More Vessels

Furetank and Algoma Central Corporation announced further expansion of their FureBear joint venture with orders for two additional vessels. The two ships will be constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China, with delivery expected in second and third quarters of 2026.The new order for Vinga series vessels grows the FureBear joint venture to a total of 10 intermediate product tankers under construction, with the first vessel slated for delivery in the first quarter of 2024.

Furetank to Sell Two Dual-fuel Tankers to Neste

Furetank Rederi AB said it has signed an agreement to sell two 17,999 dwt dual-fuel product tankers Fure Valö and Fure Ven to the Finnish company Neste, a producer of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel. The vessels will be delivered in October and December 2023, when the first of the seven new-buildings already ordered by Furetank and partners are scheduled to be delivered from the shipyard in Yangzhou."It is good news for us that we can continue to advance our environmental efforts and develop new vessels.

GTT Develops Balast Water-Free LNG Feeder & Bunker Vessel Concept

French firm GTT has developed a versatile LNG feeder & bunker vessel concept for worldwide operation without the use of ballast water.Every day, many ships carry on board a considerable quantity of seawater as ballast over the oceans. Technically, this is needed in empty or partially loaded conditions, in order to maintain seaworthiness, reach sufficient draft for propeller immersion, and avoid excessive bow slamming.Such ballasting requires investment for the onboard systems and leads to substantial operating costs.

Algoma and Furetank Establish Product Tanker Joint Venture

Canadian shipping company Algoma Central Corporation announced it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Furetank AB of Sweden to construct four dual-fuel ice class 1A 17,999 DWT climate friendly product tankers to trade in Northern Europe. The 50/50 joint venture will be named FureBear.The tankers will be constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou, China, with delivery expected between 2023 and 2025. Upon completion, all four vessels will be entered into the Gothia Tanker Alliance, and will be operated by Furetank out of Gothenburg, Sweden.

A new bitumen tanker for Rubis Group of France is currently under construction at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard. The 15,000-dwt ship will be driven by twoSchottel EcoPellers and one TransverseThruster. Designed by Swedish FKAB Marine, the vessel will be deployed in West Africa for asphalt transportation services.The main propulsion of the carrier will include two electrically driven Schottel EcoPellers type SRE 560 (2,050 kW each), featuring fixed pitch 3.1m-diameter propellers. With this configuration, the 145.8 x 26.2-m ship will achieve a maximum speed of 13.55 knots at design draft.

Wuhu Shipyard Bags Donsötank Conract for Tanker Duo

Swedish family-owned shipowner Rederi AB Donsötank has contracted two oil products and chemical tankers at Chinese Wuhu Shipyard Co. Ltd.The vessels will be delivered in 2021, the Gothenburg-based shipping company said in a press release.The vessels are designed by FKAB, based on a well-known low-resistance hull design. Gothia Tanker Alliance Delivers Fure Valö

Europe's leading network for smaller and intermediate size tankers Gothia Tanker Alliance announced the delivery of the fourth vessel LNG-fueled vessel  Fure Valö.The vessel was named on the 17th of November and delivered to owners Furetank on November 27, the company tweeted. Fure Valö has been delivered at the Chinese Avic Dingheng shipyard.Fure Valö is vessel number four in a the serie of six climate smart, high quality new buildings that will join the Gothia Tanker Alliance.It is a part of the six-vessel series ordered by the Gothia Tanker Alliance members Furetank, Älvtank and Erik Thun, Gothia Tanker Alliance said.Furetank Rederi AB, Rederi AB Älvtank and Thun Tankers BV are building six intermediate size tankers at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd.

FKAB Designs Large Dredger with Nupas-Cadmatic

FKAB has secured a contract for the design of a 2,400m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD). The concept design was developed by the Ministry of Transportation and Communication’s Kaoshing Harbor bureau, which will own and operate the vessels. The order was acquired by the Ching Fu Shipyard. The company won the contract in competition with three other Taiwan-based companies. The Ching Fu Shipyard has commissioned FKAB for the basic and detail design contract based on the company’s experience and international standing in the shipbuilding industry.

ABS to Class 45,000 cbm LNG Carrier

ABS, a provider of classification services to the maritime and offshore industries, has been chosen to class a new design of medium-sized LNG carrier to be built in China for Landmark Capital. The 45,000 cbm vessel, featuring self-supporting IMO Type-A tanks mounted within an insulated hold space, will be built in China, with an option for another vessel. Last year, ABS completed an Approval in Principle for the 'LNT A-BOX' gas containment system and will review the vessel design, survey the construction and class the ship for operation upon delivery, which is due in 2017. Landmark Capital affiliate LNG New Technologies (LNT), with operations in Norway and Singapore, has developed the LNT A-BOX system and is providing engineering services for the project.

Wartsila Wins Deal for Four LNG Tankers

Wärtsilä has been awarded a contract covering four newbuild tanker vessels. The ships are to be built at the Avic Dingheng shipyard in China, on behalf of three Swedish owners; Furetank (two vessels), Älvtank, and Thun Tankers, a fully owned subsidiary of Thunbolagen. The vessels will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering in the Gothia Tanker Alliance. The contracts were signed in the second quarter of 2016. The ships will fulfil the IMO's Tier III requirements and will be fuelled primarily by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The scope of Wärtsilä's supply to this project is extensive. Sirius Orders Two Oil/Chemical Tankers

Sirius Shipping AB has ordered two oil/chemical tankers with the latest technology and in compliance with future rules and regulations, such as Tier III, at Avic Dingheng shipyard. This is the 5th project that FKAB signes in less than a year, on a tanker project.The design is developed in cooperation between FKAB and Sirius and it started already in 2012, under the name “EVOlution.” The design with a gas-ready two-stroke engine, is based on proven hull lines, to reduce the fuel consumption to be one of the most efficient vessel in its segment.

Gothia Orders Four LNG-Powered Tankers

Swedish cargo transporter Gothia Tanker Alliance has ordered four newbuilding intermediate product/chemical tankers with LNG propulsion. The vessels will be built to a design, developed by FKAB and Furetank, with close to 50 % reduction of CO2 emissions. Partners of the alliance, Furetank Rederi AB, Rederi AB Älvtank and Thun Tankers BV, have hired Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd. for the construction of the 16,300 dwt tankers.
