German shipping company Neu Seeschiffahrt has inked a deal to install Yara Marine Technologies' (YMT) propulsion optimization technology across its fleet of six very large ore carriers (VLOC) and two recently acquired Newcastlemax vessels in 2024.YMT's FuelOpt system reduces fuel consumption and associated emissions by automatically adapting the vessel’s propulsive power to real-time environmental conditions. YMT says the system is available for newbuilds or retrofit, and is compatible with any type of propeller or engine as well as all existing and future fuels.

Teekay Tankers signed agreements to equip 25 additional tankers with Yara Marine Technologies’ FuelOpt propulsion optimization technology. The order follows the installation and evaluation of FuelOpt onboard Zenith Spirit in 2021, followed by a further three vessels in 2022.Teekay placed the new orders in Q1 and Q2 2023 after having confirmed that the use of FuelOpt onboard four of its vessels, operating with steady shaft power, resulted in fuel savings and emissions reductions of 3-5% through 2022. FuelOpt is compatible with all existing and future fuels and is designed to be user-friendly.

Offshore service vessels owner Tidewater has signed a partnership agreement with Tero Marine to provide consultancy services and the fleetwide implementation of Tero Marine’s TM Master fleet management software suite.The move is part of Tidewater's wider initiative aiming to transform its fleet to global systems and processes, create efficiencies through automation, digitalization to connect and integrate onshore and offshore, and scalability to optimize fleet efficiency for new acquisitions.

Fleet management software provider ABS Nautical Systems (ABS NS) and spare parts supply chain technology company Spares CNX are partnering to digitalize spare parts inventory management and deliver significant time and cost savings to vessel owners and operators. Fleet management software provider ABS Nautical Systems (ABS NS) and Siemens Energy Marine, a provider of energy technology, have joined forces to automate data capture and enhance compliance, including decarbonization targets, for ship owners and operators. ABS NS' digital solution, NS eLogs, is integrating with Siemens' data application, SISHIP EcoMAIN, to automatically capture, consolidate, manage and visualize essential emissions data.NS eLogs replaces traditional paper logbooks with an easy-to-use electronic logbook that reduces crew workload, eliminates error and improves access to data for compliance and operational insights.

RINA announced it has acquired the entire share capital of Denmark-based software company Logimatic Solutions, in line with Italian classification society’s plan to boost its digital solutions knowledge and offering.The company, with a turnover of about 6 million euros, will be fully integrated within the RINA Group, and its nearly 50 employees will continue in the current structure from its offices in Denmark, Singapore and Chile.For RINA, the move will add the SERTICA fleet management solution to the RINA portfolio of maritime offerings…

Ocean Infinity, a marine robotics and deep-sea data acquisition company, has tapped DNV for its ShipManager fleet management software for 17 new robotic ships and additional autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Ocean Infinity, which last year launched a program to build a fleet of unmanned surface robots - the Armada - will implement ShipManager’s modules for planned maintenance, procurement, and business intelligence for its advanced fleet of uncrewed, low-emission vessels for capturing ocean data.

Logimatic said it has signed a contract with Hapag-Lloyd that will see the German shipping company replace several existing fleet management systems with SERTICA.As part of its digital transformation and centralization efforts, Hapag-Lloyd will implement SERTICA on more than 70 containerships, creating a common Technical Fleet Management System for its fleets both in Hamburg and Dubai.Jan Rüsch, Business Project Manager at Hapag-Lloyd, said, “With a smooth transition to a shared fleet management software platform across two fleets, we expect to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Singapore-based offshore marine services provider PACC Offshore Services Holdings Ltd (POSH) and the maritime logistics solutions provider Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL) have selected ABS Nautical Systems  (NS) fleet management software to support their digitalization strategy.Both PCL and POSH are part of Kuok Singapore Limited (KSL) Maritime Group of companies, with competencies extending across offshore marine services, commercial shipping and marine engineering. Both POSH and PCL operate a combined fleet of 245 vessels including tankers, bulkers as well as offshore support vessels.The deal is for multiple NS modules to support the digitalization of workflows including fleet maintenance, purchasing and compliance.

ABS announced the release of its Nautical Systems (NS) Enterprise fleet management software, including NS Insight, a new business intelligence module. ABS said it has been awarded a Third Party Organization (TPO) contract by the Cooper Group of Companies to support compliance with U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Subchapter M requirements. “ABS anticipated the needs that would surface when the Subchapter M regulations were published and allocated resources to develop a range of solutions,” said ABS Americas Division President, Jamie Smith. The newly signed contract establishes ABS as the exclusive Subchapter M TPO for Cooper Group and its subsidiaries, Crescent Towing, Cooper Marine & Timberlands and Plimsoll Towing.

The Maritime Administrator of the Marshall Islands has extended its approval of the K-Fleet Logbook system, enabling more than 4,000 flag state registered vessels to introduce digital reporting for oil record and garbage record logbooks. The approval states that K-Fleet Logbook may now be used to fulfill the requirements of the Marshall Islands Maritime Regulations (Marine Notice No. 7-041-5) to maintain a deck and navigation log, an engine room log, an oil record book, cargo record book, a garbage record book and a radio log.
