Offshore chemical engineering specialist Aubin Group has formed a cooperation agreement with subsea flexible pipe specialist Flexlife to create an industry first in subsea integrity management (IM). Aubin Integrity, a division of Aubin Group, and Flexlife are working together to provide full-service IM solutions to the oil and gas industry. Under the cooperation, Aubin Integrity will supply its development team to create bespoke products and provide offshore personnel for operations.

Flexlife, the subsea flexible pipes specialist, has strengthened its management organization with two senior appointments. Simon Hounsome joins Flexlife’s Aberdeen headquarters as integrity and projects director, responsible for the policy, strategy and technical services delivered globally from the firm’s Aberdeen, Newcastle and Houston offices. Mr. Hounsome brings more than 20 years’ oil and gas experience in construction projects and operations management. Most recently he worked at JP Kenny, where he held the position of business manager – operations support.

Flexlife, a provider of flexible pipe technologies and engineering services, used its new integrity monitoring technology at Chevron’s Captain field in the U.K. North Sea. FlexGuard is an early detection system for possible riser integrity issues, designed to provide continuous real-time data on the condition of flexible risers. With more than 3,000 risers in use globally, with this number forecast to rise to 5,000 by 2015, and 35% forecast to suffer some form of outer sheath damage, the cost savings and environmental benefits are immense.

STATS Group has appointed two new directors as part of a strategy to double the size of the business. Carl-Petter Halvorsen has joined the pipeline engineering company as business development director while Dave Shand takes up the newly created post of chief operating officer. The dual appointments will strengthen STATS’ management team and free up chief executive officer Pete Duguid to focus on international development of the company’s unique range of piping and isolation tools for the oil and gas industries.

Flexlife, an oil and gas industry specialist in subsea integrity and project management, has been successfully contracted by Petrobras America Inc. (PAI), a subsidiary of Petrobras, an integrated energy company that operates in 29 countries, to provide independent assessment services worth up to £862,000/$1.4 million for a project in the Gulf of Mexico. The agreement involves annulus testing of the flexible risers on the Cascade and Chinook subsea development. Energy technology company, Ecosse Subsea Systems, (ESS) has increased the size of its engineering division in response to client demand for specialist engineering packages. Aberdeen-based ESS specialises in trenching, deepwater installation and subsea lifting technologies for the oil and gas, marine and renewable industries, and has a range of patented technologies in development. The new division will complement ESS’ well established consultancy service and will  be headed up by chartered engineers David Hunt and Faris Lutfy.

Subsea Specialist Flexlife Signs Memorandum of Understanding With Petrobras International. Flexlife, an oil & gas industry specialist in subsea project and integrity management, announced today (October 13) it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Petrobras to develop and provide a new integrity management system and specialised engineering services for its international oil and gas projects offshore. The agreement – Flexlife’s first work in South America - was reached during the recent OTC Brasil exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.
