Kongsberg Digital to Handle Floatel Internationals Digital Services

Floatel International will become a part of Kongsberg Digital's digital infrastructure Vessel Insight.Floatel is currently operating in the North Sea region, Australia, Gulf of Mexico and Brazil and have a fleet consisting of five semi-submersible accommodation and construction support vessels. The company is systematically working to reduce its emissions and optimize its operations. As a part of Kongsberg Digital´s infrastructure Vessel Insight, the goal is to gain better control and smarter solutions through digitalization.

Semco Maritime to Spruce Up 'Floatel Superior'

Offshore accommodation rig provider Floatel International has awarded a contract to Semco Maritime for service work on the semi-submersible accommodation unit Floatel Superior.Semco said that the harsh environment accommodation rig is expected to dock at Hanøytangen in Norway, mid-February. Norway Rejects Prosafe-Floatel Merger

The Norwegian Competition Authority has rejected the proposed merger between Scandinavian offshore accommodation/construction support providers Prosafe and Floatel.Oslo-listed accommodation services player Prosafe in a press release said that it will study the decision in detail, and expects to decide on whether to appeal shortly and within the deadline within three weeks.The company owns and operates semi-submersible accommodation vessels operating at present in the North Sea region and off Latin America.Last month the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority raised similar concerns that it could drive up prices to unsustainable levels…

Floatel Gets Martin Linge Extension

Swedish contractor Floatel International has received a new extension from Equinor for its accommodation unit Floatel Superior at the Martin Linge Field Development in Norway’s North Sea.The onshore operational support and supervision company said in a press release that Floatel Superior started its charter at Equinor’s Martin Linge project at the end of July 2018. Borr Drilling Deploys IFS Applications

The global enterprise applications company IFS announced that international offshore drilling contractor Borr Drilling has deployed IFS Applications to improve operations and optimize its IT landscape.The enterprise software company said in a press release that the go-live is part of an implementation that will see IFS Applications rolled out to 10 oil rigs and over 1,000 users by January 2019.Borr Drilling, with a fleet of 36 rigs, 9 of which are currently under construction,  decided to replace its incumbent business systems to support its goal of becoming the world’s leading provider of jack-up drills and drilling services, and to strengthen the efficiency of its international operations…

Offshore Energy: Semco to Prep Rig Floatel Victory for Action

Semco Maritime has won the contract to upgrade the Floatel Victory accommodation rig. Following the upgrade, the rig will sail out to undertake a contract in the British sector of the North Sea for Maersk Oil UK. Floatel Victory, owned by Floatel International, is expected to call at the Semco Maritime rig yard at Hanøytangen, Bergen, at the beginning of June after expiry of current contract with BP. ”We are pleased that Floatel International has chosen us for the assignment. This is an important order for Semco Maritime’s rig yard at Hanøytangen.

Standard Club Establishes New Offshore Advisory Committee

The Standard Club is driving developments in offshore P&I with the launch of the Standard Club Offshore Advisory Committee (SCOAC). SCOAC aims to analyse offshore trends, assist the club in further understanding and disseminating industry best-practice and develop new strategies to provide a focused direction for the benefit of the club’s offshore membership. The committee consists of leading offshore players including Allseas Group, Bumi Armada, Floatel International, Nortrans Offshore, Saipem, SBM Offshore and Subsea 7 – all members of The Standard Club. The members of the committee are senior figures in the offshore industry with extensive experience and knowledge allowing them to provide invaluable insight to the committee which in turn will be shared with the wider membership.

Singapore’s shipyards are looking to recent investments in capacity, design and newly acquired technology to combat order declines after a decades-long offshore buildup. Sembcorp and peer Keppel are making the most of partnerships in FLNG and showing signs they’ll be okay through the downturn, helped by their gas-hungry Australasian backyard and renewed ties with old charterer parties and suppliers. With drilling contractors unable to pay for the offshore rigs they’ve ordered, Singapore’s heavyweight yards have had to defer deliveries and become defacto rig owners.

Keppel FELS Delivers Accommodation Unit to Floatel

Keppel FELS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has delivered Floatel Triumph, a fifth high-specification accommodation semisubmersible (semi), to Floatel International Ltd (Floatel). The semi, which is built to Keppel's proprietary SSAUTM5000NG design, will be chartered by Chevron Corporation for work in the Wheatstone field in Western Australia. Floatel Triumph is scheduled to arrive on location in mid-October 2016. Thereafter, it will work for INPEX Operations Australia in Ichthys Field, off Western Australia.

Keppel to Deliver Semisub to Floatel

Keppel FELS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) is on track to deliver a fifth high-specification accommodation semisubmersible (semi) to Floatel International Ltd (Floatel) on time, on budget and with a perfect safety record. The semi, which is built to Keppel's proprietary SSAUTM 5000NG design, was named Floatel Triumph during a ceremony held earlier today. It will be chartered by INPEX Operations Australia for work in Ichthys Field, off Western Australia. Wärtsilä Wins Floatel Equipment Contract

Wärtsilä informs that a new semi-submersible accommodation and construction vessel (floatel) being built for Floatel International AB, the Swedish offshore floatel owner and operator, will feature two Wärtsilä AQUARIUS UV ballast water management systems (BWMS) and other Wärtsilä equipment. The vessel, the 'Floatel Triumph', is currently under construction at Keppel FELS. It is scheduled to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2015. The complete Wärtsilä scope of supply includes, in addition to the two AQUARIUS BWMS units, a series of Wärtsilä engine room pumps, and a pre-engineered integrated auxiliary equipment module. Wärtsilä explains that the 'Floatel Triumph' is designed for operation in demanding environment, and is being built in accordance with ABS class standards.

The Simsea AS maritime training center in Haugesund, Norway, has chosen Kongsberg Maritime to support the extension of its offshore simulation facilities with new simulators and significant upgrades to existing simulators. Keppel FELS Delivers Third Accommodation Rig to Floatel

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) celebrated the naming of their third consecutive accommodation semisubmersible (semi) rig built for Floatel International Ltd (Floatel). The rig will be delivered more than four months ahead of schedule and within budget. The rig was named Floatel Victory on November 19, 2013 at Keppel FELS and will be chartered to Chevron for work in the Gulf of Mexico and BP in the West Shetlands. The first two accommodation semis – Floatel Superior and Floatel Reliance – which Keppel FELS had built for Floatel, were delivered in 2010 to the same high standards of execution.

Keppel FELS wins IES Award for Rig Design

Keppel FELS Ltd’s (Keppel FELS) innovative and harsh environment accommodation semisubmersible design, DSS 20NS ,was conferred the IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award 2013 by the Institute of Engineers Singapore (IES) at the World Engineers Summit Gala Dinner and Award Presentation, held in Singapore on 13 September 2013. Guest of Honour of the event, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore’s Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, presented the award to Keppel FELS.

Floatel Orders Fifth Keppel Accommodation Semi

Keppel FELS Ltd. was awarded a contract worth about $280 million by Floatel International Ltd. to build its fifth accommodation semisubmersible (semi) for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2015. Keppel FELS previously delivered the accommodation semis, Floatel Superior and Floatel Reliance, in 2010 and is currently constructing two more: Floatel Victory and Floatel Endurance. The new semi will be a sister vessel to Floatel Victory and will be built to Keppel's proprietary SSAUTM5000NG design.

Floatel International Ltd is contemplating issuance of approximately USD 150 million new shares on the Oslo stock market. The company says its share placement will further strengthen their position as a leading provider of high-specification, modern accommodation vessels to the offshore oil and gas industry. The proceeds from the Private Placement will be used to finance the Company’s new build program for accommodation vessels at Keppel FELS Shipyard, growth capex and for general corporate purposes. The Company has retained Fearnley Securities and Pareto Securities as joint lead managers and joint book-runners in connection with the Private Placement. ABN-Amro and SEB Enskilda have been appointed as co-managers.

Norsafe Freefall Lifeboat Spurs Huge Demand

Norsafe received orders worth NOK 400-million (US$ 45.3-million) over the course of October 2012, & backlog at record height. "It is Norsafe’s newly developed GES50 MKIII freefall lifeboat which accounts for the bulk of these orders," says CEO Geir Skaala, adding that the international demand for this product is fantastic. GES50 MKIII (Gravity Escape System) is certified according to the DNV-OS-E406, the world's strictest requirements for freefall lifesaving systems, applicable on the Norwegian continental shelf from 2015.

Damaged ballast tank on 'Floatel Superior' in Norwegian Sea leads to evacuation of 374 personnel due to water ingress, list. The Floatel Superior is operated by Floatel International on hire to Statoil and is situated close by the Njord A platform, although it was diconnected from the platform when the incident ocurred. A hole, believed to be caused by an anchor, was discovered in the rig’s ballast tank causing an ingress of water that caused a 3-4 degree list that was speedily rectified and rig stability was re-established…

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS) has entered into a Letter of Intent (LOI) with returning customer Floatel International Ltd (Floatel), to build a new generation harsh environment semisubmersible (semi) worth $315 million for delivery in July, 2014. This will be Floatel's fourth accommodation semi with Keppel FELS after the delivery of Floatel Superior and Floatel Reliance in 2010 and the order of Floatel Victory in 2011. The new semi will be based on the Floatel Superior design, a DSSTM 20NS design developed by GustoMSC and Keppel FELS' Deepwater Technology Group. Equipped with Dynamic Positioning (DP) 3 capability, it will meet the most stringent rules and regulations for worldwide operations including the Norwegian Sector.
