Cheniere to Sell US LNG to China's Foran Group

U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) company Cheniere Energy Inc said Wednesday its marketing arm agreed to sell LNG to a unit of Chinese natural gas distribution company Foran Energy Group Co Ltd for 20 years starting in January 2023.Analysts said the deal should move Cheniere closer to making a final investment decision (FID) to build the proposed Stage 3 expansion at its Corpus Christi plant in Texas, which is expected in 2022.The deal is one of several announced in recent weeks…

Zamakona Launches Siuana Arctica

Spanish shipbuilding and ship repair company Zamakona Yards reached a new milestone with the launching of the first of two new 69-meter reefer vessels to be built for the Greenlandic shipowner Royal Arctic Line A/S. Launching will take place February 4.The vessel will be named as Siuana Arctica and will replace the existing vessel Pajuttaat built in 1979. Conceptual design is being carried out by the Norwegian company Havyard Design & Solutions.The ship is designed to operate in northwest Greenland and have greater capacity than current ship. SENER to Design 1,200-Pax Ferry for Tanzania

Spanish engineering and technology group SENER has contracted the basic design of a 1,200-passenger ferry for Tanzanian shipping line Kampuni ya Huduma za Meli (Marine Services Co., Ltd.) to the Korean company GAS Entec."With this new engineering contract, SENER has the experience from having built over 1,200 ships and offshore artifacts worldwide under its own designs. SENER Releases FORAN V80R3.0

SENER released a new FORAN version: V80R3.0. According to the company, FORAN new release brings a major improvement in the overall system, unifying the CAD model exchange system. Complete support has been added for the import and export of STEP, IGES, IFC, BREP and STL CAD files. In addition, imported elements will be transformed into FORAN native objects, which will improve performance, consistency and memory allocation.Many modules have implemented interface shortcuts, as well as changes that allow the use of different commands simultaneously, improving considerably user experience.

Sener's FORAN Scores in Boxship Design

SENER said that two container ships designed by the Chinese company CIMC ORIC – that are part of a series designed with SENER’s FORAN System – are in operation. BG Diamond and BG Jade that have been launched and are operating in the Pacific Ocean. The vessels were built in Chinese Changhong International Shipyard. The floating ceremony of the first one, BG Diamond, took place in July 2017. The series include 4+4 vessels in total, so there are still six vessels under construction. FORAN system was implemented in this design company in December 2015.

FORAN Upgraded for Improved Shipbuilding Efficiency

The SENER engineering and technology group has upgraded its FORAN System with important new enhancements following its Shipyard 4.0 Digitalization Strategy, which have been incorporated into the System in the latest FORAN Build, launched to the market in October 2017. The industry is demanding more technological capacity and integration, and this new FORAN release incorporates relevant improvements in the different design packages. The surface ship model, managed as a collection of NURBS patches, is now internally represented by a shell in accordance with the new geometrical kernel of FORAN.

First Ocean Voyage of the Training Ship Unión

On its first ocean voyage to Europe, the training ship ‘Unión’ – a large sailed vessel belonging to the Peruvian Navy – called on the port of Cádiz, as part of its second training mission and its first mission with a stop in Europe. On the request of the shipbuilder SIMA and the Peruvian Navy, the engineering and technology group SENER has developed the ship’s complete stability booklet, which required conducting advanced studies of its weights and ballast under various loads.

FORAN Implemented for Fishing Vessel Inspections

The SENER (Shanghai) Systems Co. office has signed an agreement with the Register of Fishing Vessels of Hebei Province (RFVHB), in China, to authorize the use of its FORAN system. As a result, the RFVHB will now use FORAN to perform fishing vessel inspections. The RFVHB is a public body belonging to the Register of Fishing Vessels of the People’s Republic of China. Brazilian Shipyard BECONAL Uses FORAN

The SENER engineering and technology group has signed a contract with shipyard Bertolini Construção Naval da Amazônia Ltda (BECONAL), providing it with a license to use its marine design and construction system, FORAN. The scope of the contract covers installation of the FORAN system and provision of permanent licenses, including the Hull Forms, General Arrangement, Naval Architecture, Hull Structure, Machinery and Outfitting, Electrical Design, and Drafting disciplines. FORAN Design Wins Korean Universities' First Prize

Hae-Jun Ji and his team of other sophomores and juniors at the Naval Architecture and Ocean Systems Engineering department of the Busan-based Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU) won the first prize in the 25th National Ship Design Contest for University Students organized by the Society of Naval Architects of Korea (SNAK). The award ceremony was held within SNAK’s 2016 General Meeting & Annual Autumn Conference on 3 November in Changwon. The First Prize certificate with a cash award of 1,000,000 won (1,000 US dollar) was presented to the KMOU team by Seok-Ho Ban, President of SNAK. The Contest has been held annually since 1992. Each year SNAK sets two assignment categories: the design of a determined type of ship and the open-theme design of an innovative ship.

The SENER Group division in Shanghai has presented the FORAN System in the Dalian Ocean University (DOU) in China on October 28. Invited by the DOU, the Technical Consultant Zhi Jiang, from SENER´s office in Shanghai, gave the lecture ‘3D Ship Digital Design with FORAN System’ about the outfitting design with FORAN, one of its main design disciplines. Steel Cut for CIMC ORIC's First FORAN Project

The steel cutting ceremony of the first project designed with the FORAN system by CIMC Ocean Engineering Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CIM ORIC) was held in the Chinese shipyard Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard Co., Ltd. on September 23. CIMC ORIC is a subsidiary company of the Group CIMC which is dedicated to research on ship design and marine equipment. CIMC ORIC implemented the FORAN system in December 2015. After receiving FORAN training from SENER (Shanghai) Systems Co., Ltd., CIMC ORIC started to use FORAN to design a 1004 TEU container vessel.

SENER Unveils FORAN V80R2.0

The SENER engineering and technology group has taken part in the SMM Hamburg maritime trade fair, one of the most prestigious international meetings in the sector, which is held every two years, on this occasion from September 5 to 9. SENER, staying loyal to a tradition of over 20 years, attended with its own stand inside the Spanish Pavilion, in which it presented the stand-out features of the latest version of FORAN V80, the CAD/CAM/CAE system for the design and production of vessels. Improvements offered by the new version include the new approach for managing a series of ships, and also the capacity for offering truly efficient solutions for basic design, detail design and production, integrated and collaboratively, which come highly coveted within the industry.
