Alfa Laval’s PureSOX Secures Repeat Order

As the marine industry struggles to prepare for 2015 and the first wave of sulphur emission limits, Alfa Laval technology is proving its worth. Following a similar order from DFDS earlier in 2013, a repeat order for PureSOX was placed by Dutch ship owner Spliethoff near the end of the year. The order confirms not only the commercial viability of the exhaust gas cleaning system, but also customer confidence in the system’s performance within Emission Control Areas (ECAs). Signed in November, the order from Spliethoff comprises PureSOX systems for five Con-Ro vessels.

Shipdock, Spliethoff Combine Forces

Shipdock has reached an agreement with Spliethoff, the Amsterdam-based ship-owning company, for the largest exhaust gas scrubber unit installed so far on board a commercial vessel. Due to forthcoming new IMO sulphur legislation, Shipdock is expecting an increased demand for this type of conversion. This is the first scrubber capable of handling several exhaust gas inlets simultaneously (two main engines and two auxiliary engines producing a combined engine power of 28.000 kW) It will be installed on Spliethoff’s vessel m.v. Alfa Laval, Spliethoff Deal for Cleaner Ships

Alfa Laval signed a contract with Spliethoff, a leading player in the transport market. It covers the retrofit of a multiple inlet PureSOx exhaust gas cleaning system on board one of Spliethoff’s vessels which operates mainly in the North European ECA area. It is the first order received by Alfa Laval for such a multiple inlet system.
