Rutter Launches WaveVision

Rutter, the solutions provider for radar image processing for the maritime industry, unveiled an innovative complement to its sigma S6 product line, WaveVision,  developed to optimize safety and operational efficiency of fishing and workboat operations.WaveVision is a revolutionary tool that works with navigational x-band radar to give operators visibility into wave fields within a 1km range of the vessel. When a large, obstructive or dangerous wave is detected the system alerts the operator, allowing time to make adjustment to speed or heading – or to allow time to warn deck personnel to seek shelter.Conversely, WaveVisionTM can identify quiet periods to allow delicate on-deck or overside operations to take place in relative safety.“We feel that this product represents a new direction for

Ice Navigation System Selected for Magne Viking

Magne Viking (Photo: Rutter)

Rutter Inc. announced that Viking Ice Consultancy selected the sigma S6 Ice Navigator system for installation on the Magne Viking, the first vessel to comply with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Polar Code approved by DNV GL. Rutter’s sigma S6 Ice Navigator system enables vessels operating in ice to differentiate between open water, ice pans, open water leads in ice fields and the ice ridges that impact operations in ice zones. Its high resolution image processing provides enhanced ice imaging for detection and tracking.

Rutter Wins New Funding for R&D

Rutter Inc. Signs $1.4 Million Funding Contract for Ice Navigation and Detection Radar Research and Development. Canadian-based Rutter Inc. will receive $1.4 million in funding from Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador under its Arctic & Harsh Environments strategic focus area. The funds will be used to build and test an advanced radar system that is capable of providing enhanced ice navigation and detection. The integrated dual polarized ice navigation and detection radar is expected to help operators distinguish between the much harder multi-year ice and first-year ice, a major challenge for vessels operating in ice‐infested waters.

Rutter Partners on $2m Order, Integrated Oil Spill Solution

Canadian based Rutter Technologies, a division of Rutter Inc. (TSX:RUT), and its Norwegian partner, Aptomar AS, announced orders for six Integrated Oil Spill Response and Management Systems. This comes on the heels of the recent certification of the technology by the Norwegian Clean Seas Association (NOFO) following the conclusion of trials in June. The Integrated Oil Spill Response and Management System provides operators with real-time information about the volume and thickest areas of an oil slick in order to maximize recovery efforts. It combines Rutter’s Sigma S6 radar processor and display with the Aptomar SECurus system. This integration gives the operator the ability make immediate decisions on oil slick detection both onboard vessels and onshore.
