A&P to Drydock FPSO
A&P Tyne’s number 5 dock at Hebburn on Tyneside will shortly accommodate one of the largest vessels to be docked on the River Tyne in recent years. The Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel Haewene Brim will visit in the Summer for a 35day upgrading to its process plant and hull maintenance period refit. Work is already well in hand in the fabrication and assembly of the new process modules for the vessel. The vessel upgrading is being carried out in a partnership between A&P Tyne Ltd. and McNulty Offshore Contractors Ltd. of South Shields who are the prime contractor. Bluewater are the vessels owner and operator, Haewene Brim is currently on charter to Shell UK on the Pierce field in the North Sea.
A&P Tyne & Stirling Shipmanagement Renew Agreement
A&P Tyne has announced its new ship repair agreement with offshore supply vessel specialist Stirling Shipmanagement, Glasgow, part of the Seacor Group. The agreement is an extension of the original Heads of Agreement between A&P and Stirling Shipmanagement for the dry dock and repair of Stirling vessels operating within the UK sector, for a further year. A&P Tyne successfully carried out dry dockings/repairs to a total of nine (9) Stirling vessels during last year (2001) including the offshore supply vessels Stirling Fyne, Stirling Tay, Stirling Aquarius, Stirling Forth, Stirling Clyde, Stirling Sirius, Stirling Altair and Stirling Spey.
RFA Fort Rosalie Contract Awarded to A&P Tyne
A&P Tyne has won the latest refit contract involving ships operated by the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) - to carry out the 4-month refit of the fleet supply vessel RFA Fort Rosalie in their Wallsend yard. The contract from the U.K. Ministry of Defense (MoD), which will began on June 15, has secured 500 jobs for the duration of the refit. This contract follows the recent successful refit and repairs carried out aboard the RFA Fort Victoria, which also drydocked at A&P Tyne earlier this year. RFA Fort Rosalie Refit Completed
The refit of RFA Fort Rosalie has been completed at A&P Tyne. The refit, which began in June involved major repairs including work on the ship's rudder, extensive hull blasting and coating, various survey work including cranes and lifting equipment, conversion of cargo hold bulk storage area, overhaul of main engines and generators, refurbishment of accommodation areas, cargo lift surveys and repairs, replenishment at sea (RAS) equipment, and electrical equipment repairs. Other work carried out included upgrades to communications, engine room crane, cargo plant, and domestic power supplies. A&P Tyne Wins Repair Contract
A&P Tyne has been awarded the contract for the Life Extension of Technip-Coflexip’s 9,158grt multi purpose dive support vessel CSO Wellservicer. The vessel is due to arrive on Tyneside during mid-November for a dry docking period, expected to last for 100 days. Work will include main deck steel work renewal, major upgrade on electrical power systems, full underwater hull coating renewal, tank blasting coating renewal, and replacement of ships main power generation units. Fred Newman, Managing Director of A&P Tyne said, “the award of this contract further demonstrates our customers increasing confidence in our ability to successfully complete contracts of this magnitude”.
