Oxidation Catalyst Project Aims for 70% Methane Slip Reduction

Edda Breeze CSOV Visits Oslo

Edda Breeze, the first of seven of Norway-based Edda Wind's offshore wind service vessels, is visiting Oslo this week.Edda Wind took delivery of the CSOV earlier this year. Stena Line Plans to Launch 'Fossil-free' Ships Before 2030

Swedish ferry company Stena Line said it plans to put two battery-powered vessels into service by 2030. The new RoPax ferries, which will operate without the use of fossil fuels, are part of the company's wider effort to reduce its environmental footprint.The news was revealed in Gothenburg on Thursday by Stena Lines CEO Niclas Mårtensson during a press conference announcing the Tranzero Initiative, a collaborative project aiming to accelerate the transition to fossil-free fuels in the transport sector.

Petrojarl Banff FPSO to Be Recycled in Denmark

M.A.R.S. Europe said it has been awarded a contract by Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production UK Ltd. for dismantling and recycling of the Petrojarl Banff floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO). The deal includes engineering, preparation, dismantling and green recycling of the long-serving floater.Teekay's Petrojarl Banff FPSO is expected to arrive at M.A.R.S. DFDS Seeks EU Support to Build Ferry Powered by Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Danish international shipping and logistics firm DFDS has, with its partners, applied for EU support for the development of a ferry powered by electricity from a hydrogen fuel cell system that only emits water. Stena Oil Rolls Out Scandinavia's Largest Bunkering Terminal at Frederikshavn

Stena Oil has signed an agreement to create a new marine fuel terminal in the Port of Frederikshavn. The facility will be fully adapted for the new Sulphur Directive 2020 and its location will reduce the distances travelled by bunkering vessels. The oil terminal will be the largest of its kind in Scandinavia, with a capacity of 75 000 cubic metres. "We are delighted to be developing our business in Frederikshavn. We will create a state-of-the-art terminal that can handle all fuel types that meet the IMO’s global sulphur directive, which comes into effect in 2020. Port of Gothenburg: Sustained Growth in Ro-Ro Operations

Ro-ro operations at the Port of Gothenburg are looking bright, with sustained growth three years in succession. There has been an increase of 10 per cent over the past year alone, with the number of units currently standing at 593,000. But there is still potential to raise the bar even further by switching a higher proportion of freight from Norway to Gothenburg from land to sea. It is hoped that closer collaboration between the ports in Hirtshals, Kristiansand, Larvik, Grenland, Risavika, Bergen and Zeebrugge will help reinforce intra-Nordic shipping, and at the same time reduce carbon emissions.
