Seatankers Names Svelland as New CEO

Norwegian-born billionaire John Fredriksen appointed a hedge fund manager on Friday as next head of his family's key holding company, which controls assets ranging from oil tankers and rigs to real estate, fish farming, and finance.Fredriksen, 76, said Tor Andre Svelland, 53, will become chief executive of Seatankers Group, top shareholder of world number one salmon producer Mowi, tanker firm Frontline and offshore driller Seadrill.Seatankers also controls dry bulk shipper Golden Ocean and real estate firm Norwegian Property…

Giaever to Take Over as CFO at NAT, NAO

Bjorn Giaever will take up his position as the new chief financial officer (CFO) at Nordic American Tankers Limited (NAT) and Nordic American Offshore Ltd. (NAO) from October 16, 2017.   Giaever joins NAT/NAO from maritime focused investment bank Fearnley Securities AS, where he served as a director and partner in the Corporate Finance division. Giaever has served as a corporate advisor in the John Fredriksen group in London, top rated Senior Shipping Analyst in DNB Markets and partner in Inge Steensland AS, specializing in gas related maritime matters.    Outgoing NAT/NAO CFO, Turid M. Sorensen, will leave her administrative duties before the end of 2017. She will be suggested as board member of NAT.

Nordic American Appoints New CFO

Nordic American Tankers (NAT) and Nordic American Offshore (NAO) has appointed Bjørn Giaever (50) as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He is expected to join us later this year and as early as possible. Fredriksen forms ship broker with Arctic Securities

Norwegian-born billionaire John Fredriksen has teamed up with investment bank Arctic Securities to form a ship broking company aimed at taking on bigger rivals and betting on a recovery in the global shipping market. Many segments of the shipping industry, including dry bulk commodities, are struggling with tougher conditions due to world economic worries and a surfeit of vessels. Fredriksen, via his family's investment company Geveran Trading Co, and Oslo-headquartered Arctic Securities said on Monday they had established a 50-50 joint venture broking company, Arctic Shipping Norway, which they expect to start operations in the first half of this year. CEO Will Not Return: Fredriksen

Norwegian-born billionaire John Fredriksen said Jo Lunder, who has been on leave as chief executive of his Fredriksen Group since November, would not come back, business paper Dagens Naeringsliv wrote on Friday. Fredriksen Group controls rig firm Seadrill, fish farmer Marine Harvest, tanker company Frontline, dry bulker Golden Ocean and property company Norwegian Property, among others. Lunder was put on leave in November due to an ongoing police probe at telecoms firm Vimpelcom, the firm he headed before he joined the Fredriksen Group. "No, he will not come back here. We have clarified this between us in an orderly manner. Jo Lunder has to use his time on what he is involved in now. I wish him good luck," Fredriksen told Dagens Naeringsliv. Shipping is the premise for international trade and has always been an international industry. A central driver for the global shift has been the operational and technological development of the shipping industry, which has lowered transportation costs dramatically, says a report from Menon Business Economics. With the emergence of standardized bulk carriers, oil and other raw materials could be traded globally. Today most shipping markets, not just raw materials carried in bulk, but also specialized segments like cruise, offshore and car carriers, are globalized. Maritime services, however, have, until recently, been relatively national or regional, often located around the ship owning companies.

Seadrill Appoint David Sneddon Chief Accounting Officer

David Sneddon is to succeed Robert Hingley-Wilson as Chief Accounting Officer and Senior Vice President of Seadrill Management Limited. Mr Sneddon joined Seadrill effective December 1, 2013 as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to Seadrill he held several senior positions in Novelis Inc., most recently as VP Finance in Europe, and prior to that held various positions in Alcan. Seadrill Appoint Per Wulff New CEO

Per Wullf will succeed Fredrik Halvorsen (leaving to join technology venture Ubon Partners) as Chief Executive Officer of Seadrill Management Limited. Wullf has worked for Seadrill since February 2009 as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Seadrill, he held several senior positions in Maersk, most recently as Managing Director of Maersk Contractors in Norway. He has 33 years of experience in the drilling industry, including 17 years in international and offshore operations. John Fredriksen, Chairman of the Board of Directors said, "The Board would like to express its thanks to Fredrik Halvorsen for his contribution to the Fredriksen group of companies since he joined us in 2010.

ABG Shipyard Wins Orders from Sea Tankers

ABG Shipyard Ltd has bagged a repeat order for construction projects from Sea Tankers Management Company Ltd. The company would construct six anchor handling tug vessels each for a price of $9.99m aggregating $59.94m, for Sea Tankers, a part of John Fredriksen's Group. The six vessels will be delivered at an interval of three months each beginning from December 2007, and ending March 2009. With this repeat order for six more vessels the company has an order for total 12 vessels from Sea Tankers Management Company Ltd. (Source: Hindu Business Line)
