Fugro Wins Survey Deal at U.S. Offshore Wind Project

Community Offshore Wind, a U.S. joint venture between RWE Renewables and National Grid, has awarded Fugro an offshore survey contract to support site appraisal and concept design activities in the New York Bight. The joint venture was last year succesful in a joint bid in the New York Bight offshore lease auction which it secured area OCS-A 0539 with a winning bid of $1.1 billion. The awarded seabed has the potential to host 3 gigawatts (GW) of capacity, enough to power 1.1 million U.S. homes.

MV Kobi Ruegg Joins Fugro Survey Fleet

A 58-meter, multi-role survey vessel MV Kobi Ruegg has joined Fugro’s fleet and is set to begin her first project in the Egyptian sector of the Mediterranean Sea. Working on behalf of Saipem, Fugro will deploy its large diameter piston core system to collect soil samples in the Zohr gas field; geophysical surveys for Pico and Shell will follow. Having previously operated in the Gulf of Mexico for Fugro, the three-year-old vessel has recently been renamed in honor of a former member of Fugro’s management board who passed away in March 2017.

Fugro's Survey Vessel to Search for Malaysia 370

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has awarded Fugro a contract that will see the deployment of its specialist vessel, equipment and expertise in the underwater search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 (MH370). Using its advanced survey vessel, the Fugro Equator, fitted with state-of-the art multibeam echosounder equipment, Fugro will conduct a bathymetric survey of the search area. The seabed data obtained will assist in the production of maps of the seabed offshore Western Australia.

Kongsberg Systems for New Fugro Survey Ship

The new Fugro-owned Survey Vessel “Fugro Helmert” has been christened at Fassmer Shipyard in Germany, & is equipped with Kongsberg Maritime (Germany) advanced technical equipment. Kongsberg Maritime scope of supply to this high sophisticated survey vessel includes a Dynamic Position System Class 1 (DP1) with class notation Germanischer Lloyd and various sounding equipment placed in a specially designed blister in the keel section area. This includes the middle water EM710 multibeam system, as well as the latest generation of shallow water multibeam system EM 2040.

Fugro Wins Large Chevron Offshore Navigation Contract

Netherlands-based Fugro has been contracted by Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Ltd, to support its development program at Block 0, off the coast of Cabinda province, Angola. The contract includes the provision of offshore positioning services and accurate navigation systems for Chevron’s drilling units, vessels and structures, together with both onshore and offshore survey services. Fugro’s offshore geophysical data acquisition services will be supplemented by data processing, interpretation and reporting. At Chevron’s onshore facilities in Malongo, Fugro’s survey services will include subsidence evaluations, topographical surveys, chart production, interpretation and reporting. www.fugro.com

Fugro Use ConCat on Near Shore Site Survey

Fugro Survey A/S recently used the ConCat survey catamaran to conduct a near shore multibeam survey at Larvik, Norway. The harbor in Mørjefjorden, south of Larvik has a customized loading berth for export of aggregates excavated in the region. approximately 250 x 50 m must be deepened to facilitate access for larger barges. Fugro Survey was contracted to provide detailed bathymetric charts of the survey site, and saw ConCat as an excellent platform due to its high portability, and the quality of data from the integrated Kongsberg survey suite. Fugro Survey Signs Agreement with Telenor

Telenor Satellite Services announced the signing of a contract with Fugro Survey Limited of Aberdeen, United Kingdom, for Sealink maritime high-speed data communications aboard three of the company's survey and research vessels. Under the terms of the annual agreement, Telenor will provide Ku-Band service for two of Fugro's site survey vessels, both operating in the North Sea. Telenor will also install a new combined "quick change" C- and Ku-Band system aboard a third vessel, operating globally. Ku-Band provides Fugro the capability to use high-speed communications applications at sea including LAN and WAN connectivity, video conferencing, and Internet access, while using smaller, less expensive shipboard equipment.
