GMG Acquires Fugro’s Trenching, Cable Laying Business

Global Marine Group (GMG) will acquire Fugro’s trenching and cable laying business in exchange for an equity stake of around 24 percent in the combined business valued at $65 million, and a one year secured vendor loan of $ 7.5 million. Fugro said it will realize a gain on this transaction, valued at approximately $73 million. Fugro Reduces Offshore Wind Development Down Time

A development by Fugro for its work class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) has been utilised successfully in cable lay touchdown monitoring operations at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. A new track base unit, fitted to its FCV ROV, has been introduced to ensure highly accurate cable positioning during cable lay operations in strong currents. The unit ensures the continuation of operations in strong currents by enabling the ROV to run along the seabed instead of flying through the water. It is fitted to the existing ROV frame but can be detached easily if required. The unit was developed following another project for E.ON at the Humber Gateway Offshore Wind Farm in 2015…

Fugro to Install Cables for Rampion Wind Farm

Geotechnical, survey, subsea and geosciences services firm Fugro informs it has secured a contract for the installation and burial of array cables at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm being built in the English Channel, 13 kilometers off the Sussex coast, by E.ON alongside partners, the UK Green Investment Bank plc. The contract will see Fugro lay and bury the cables with its construction and installation vessels Fugro Symphony and Fugro Saltire using one of its two Q1400 trenching systems to bury the cables.

Fire Aboard Fugro Vessel

Fugro confirmed there was a fire onboard its ROV support vessel Fugro Symphony around 2:30 a.m. this morning. The 2011-built vessel was docked at Peterhead Harbor in the U.K. at the time of the incident. The fire was contained in a small area of the vessel and extinguished in the presence of emergency services personnel. No injuries were reported. All nonessential personnel onboard were immediately evacuated as a precaution, but have since returned to the vessel once it was confirmed safe to do so. Fugro said it has a team presently onboard to investigate the cause of the incident.

Kongsberg Completes K-Master FAT & Sea Trials for New PSV's

New aft-bridge operator station integrated with DP and thruster control. Kongsberg Maritime has successfully completed Factory Acceptance Tests for the K-Master aft bridge systems being delivered to two Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) built at Havyard in Leirvik for owner Sartor Offshore and Supply Service. The vessels are part of a four newbuild series, all featuring KONGSBERG K-Master, K-Pos Dynamic Positioning, C-Joy joystick control and K-Thrust thruster control. The FATs were for Havyard 103 and 106, vessels number 2 and 3 in the series and are due for delivery to the owner in Q1 2012.
