Kongsberg has received an order to deliver unique ‘Full Picture’ technology upgrades for a further three Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) owned by Mantenimiento Express Marítimo SAPI de CV (“MEXMAR”), Seacor  Marine’s joint venture in Mexico. The contract follows the September 2017 contract for the same ground-breaking upgrade package on the Seacor Maya PSV, which was an important step taken by MEXMAR towards meeting the increasing industry demand to reduce the environmental footprint of offshore operations.

Leading global ship management company OSM Maritime Group has been awarded full crew management of Lauritzen Kosan’s entire fleet of advanced liquefied gas tankers. The agreement, covering 26 refrigerated ethylene, semi-refrigerated and pressurised gas carriers, will help Lauritzen Kosan deliver on its promise of providing optimal efficiency, safety, quality and value for its global base of energy and petrochemical customers. OSM’s focus on the provision of personal service and expert seafarers, combined with delivering significant business efficiencies and economies of scale, has seen the company grow considerably in 2017. This latest contract ranks as its largest individual win of the year, bringing the number of vessels OSM provides services to far beyond the 500 mark.

Kongsberg Maritime said it has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) contract with Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG), a subsidiary of Siem Group. This is the second RoPax contract that Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded at FSG. The ‘Full Picture’ contract, valued at approximately €20 million ($23 million), covers engineering, procurement and project management, maritime technology deliveries and installation on a LNG fuelled RoPax Ferry for French company Brittany Ferries Ltd.

The recent months’ uptick in global indicators, which implies a strengthening in the global economy, is not sufficient for the patient to be discharged yet. Maritime technology has come on in leaps and bounds since the turn of the century. We have the technology to keep an offshore support vessel on station within a 0.5-meter radius, even in the most severe weather conditions and sea states. We have the technology to manage power output, and control drives and thrusters to the ‘nth’ degree, providing safety and reliability for all ship handling operations. And we have the technology to deliver gigabytes of data to shore without paying for a helicopter or a mid-ocean drop off of hard drives or DVDs. So, what’s next? Arguably, the ‘big’ topic is unmanned vessels.

Kongsberg Maritime together with its wholly owned subsidiary Kongsberg Maritime Engineering (KME) will execute the project, which will see KME provide all engineering, procurement and project management while Kongsberg Maritime will supply a ‘full picture’ system delivery. The RoPax ferry will have a 194.8 m length overall and 31.6 m beam with a cargo capacity of 2,800 lane meters, and an additional dedicated car deck for 300 cars.

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded offshore EPC contracts worth more than NOK 520 million from the China Merchants Heavy Industries (CMHI) covering the deliveries of to two semi-submersible heavy lift and accommodation vessels; OOS Serooskerke and OOS Walcheren, to be built at CMHI (Jiangsu) in Haimen, China for Serooskerke Shipco BV / Walcheren Shipco BV in the Netherlands. Kongsberg Maritime together with its wholly owned subsidiary Kongsberg Maritime Engineering (KME) will execute the project. KME will provide all engineering, procurement and project management while Kongsberg Maritime will supply a ‘full picture’ system delivery. The vessels are based on a similar design to the OOS Greta (pictured) currently operating for Petrobras in Brazil.
