Furuno Offers FMD-3200/FMD-3300 Type Specific Training

Furuno Electric  Co., Ltd. announced that the type specific ECDIS training for the new ECDIS FMD-3200/FMD-3300 is now available at Furuno INS Training Center in Singapore. The new training program has been developed by INSTC Denmark embracing the same philosophy as they did when they first developed the type specific training course for the FEA-2107/FEA-2807 ECDIS. The new training program is to comply strictly with the STCW and ISM Codes as well as currently known requirements from various flag states and other stakeholders. With the launch of the new generation ECDIS model FMD-3200/FMD-3300, Furuno is setting up training systems around the world, starting with Denmark, Germany and Singapore and moving on to other locations as fast as possible.

Furuno ECDIS Type Specific Training Available in Ukraine

Odessa Maritime Training Center in Ukraine has joined the Furuno NavSkills network. Starting from March 2013, Odessa Maritime Training Center will provide Furuno type specific ECDIS training to navigators, as a part of the Furuno NavSkills training network. Established in 1998, Odessa Maritime Training center (OMTC) is one of the leading centers in the Ukraine. During the following two years the OMTC Quality Management System was developed and implemented and in 1999 OMTC was certified and approved by the Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in accordance with the Rules for Maritime Training Centers.

FURUNO Accredited Another Training Center

VERITAS Maritime Training Center  in Manila has joined the FURUNO NavSkills network of training centers. Since December 2012, VERITAS MTC has provided FURUNO type specific ECDIS training to navigators under the FURUNO NavSkills training contract. Under the NavSkills agreement VERITAS MTC will accommodate a total of six training workstations: Four ECDIS FEA-2107 workstations and two next generation, state-of-the-art FMD-3200 workstations with three training instructors certified by FURUNO to conduct FURUNO type specific ECDIS training. VERITAS MTC is a part of Epsilon Hellas (Overseas) Ltd. and was established in January 2012. The company is engaged in providing training to Philippine shipboard personnel on seagoing vessels.

Furuno Type Specific ECDIS Training Now Available

Furuno has established training facilities in India and the Philippines through close cooperation with the newly established Moloobhoy Training Center in Mumbai and COMPASS Training Center in the Philippines. The two training centers have started to provide the 2-day Furuno type specific ECDIS training course under the NavSkills umbrella having their instructors trained in Denmark and under the subsequent on-site training syllabus provided by Furuno INS Training Center in Denmark.

ClassNK Approves Furuno ECDIS Training

ClassNK issues type Specific Training Course Approval for ECDIS Certification to FURUNO INS Training Center Denmark. ClassNK issued Type Specific Training Course approval on 2 December 2011 for an ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) Training Course offered by FURUNO INS Training Center Denmark. This approval, the first issued by ClassNK in Europe, certifies that the course offered by the center complies with the leading classification society’s new Standard for Maritime Education & Training.

ClassNK Issues Approval for ECDIS Training

ClassNK Issues First Type Specific Training Course Approval for ECDIS Certification to FURUNO INS Training Center Singapore. ClassNK issued its first Type Specific Training Course approval for an ECDIS(Electronic Chart Display and Information System) Training Course offered by FURUNO INS Training Center Singapore. New requirements for the installation of ECDIS systems will be phased in from 1 July 2012, after which vessels will be required to navigate using ECDIS as their primary chart system.
