High-Tech Fincantieri Ferry For Quebec
Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples) saw the launching today of the "F.-A.-Gauthier", the latest generation ferry that Fincantieri is building for Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ), a Québec Government Corporation that operates in maritime passenger transport. Fincantieri won the order in July 2012, beating the very top international competitors. The ship's name, “F.-A.-Gauthier”, is in honour of Félix-Adrien Gauthier, mayor of the town of Matane (1960-1963) and founder of the Matane–Godbout ferry route. Fincantieri launch 'Le Soleil', a super luxury cruise ship for French shipping line Compagnie du Ponent (Bridgepoint Group). The ship will be delivered in June 2013 and will be essentially more like a mega yacht in size and fitting out with a paramount attention to interior detail. Italian Shipyard Launches Its Largest Ship
Fincantieri launches 'Royal Princess' the new flagship of Princess Cruises's fleet at its Monfalcone shipyard. "Royal Princess", at 141,000 gross tons, 330 metres long and 38 metres wide, is the largest ship ever built by Fincantieri. It has 1,780 cabins, of which 1,438 have balconies (81% of the total), and is able to accommodate 3,600 passengers, with total capacity for over 5,600 people including crew. The ship will be able to adapt to every possible type of cruise, operating from Alaska to Australia, even in environmentally protected areas where navigation is restricted.
