GAC Forwarding & Shipping Renamed GAC Shanghai

GAC Forwarding & Shipping (Shanghai) has changed its name to GAC (Shanghai) after more than a decade since its establishment, said a press release.Managing Director Simon Xu says the renaming comes after the company has established a firm foothold in the country’s competitive shipping and logistics sectors. GAC Dubai Wins Group HSSE Award

GAC Dubai’s introduction of a suite of practical innovations to improve safety in working conditions and reduce the company’s carbon footprint has won it the Group Chairman’s Award for HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) Excellence for 2015. 35 entries were received for the annual Award, which for the first time extended its scope from the previous focus on the environment to also encompass health, safety and security measures. That extension reflects the importance of HSSE compliance in the diverse sectors the GAC Group serves. Simple measures, winning formula GAC Dubai stood out for its implementation of a series of simple measures introduced to enhance HSSE across the board.

Schensema Named GAC Managing Director

GAC, a global provider of integrated shipping, logistics and marine services, has moved Claus Schensema, its previous Managing Director in Shanghai, China, to Houston, Texas, to take the helm of GAC North America Logistics. Schensema brings 25 years’ experience in shipping and logistics to his new role as GAC North America Logistics’ Managing Director, including expertise in international freight forwarding, contract logistics management, automotive logistics, oil & gas support and ship agency management.

GAC North America Passes the Helm to Schensema

GAC says it  has moved Claus Schensema to Houston, Texas, where he will take up the post of Managing Director of GAC North America Logistics. Schensema brings 25 years’ experience in shipping and logistics to his new role as GAC North America Logistics’ Managing Director, including expertise in international freight forwarding, contract logistics management, automotive logistics, oil & gas support and ship agency management. Prior to his latest appointment, he served as Managing Director of GAC China for 12 years, based in Shanghai. GAC China now has six offices and almost 200 employees providing a wide range of integrated logistics services throughout the country.

GAC China Launches New Pollution Control Service

GAC China launched a new specialist service to help ship owners comply with stringent new anti-pollution regulations that come into force at the country’s ports on March 1, 2012. Under the China Maritime Safety Agency (MSA) rules, owners and operators of vessels carrying any cargo deemed to represent a potential pollution risk in Chinese territorial waters must work with a Government-approved Ship Pollution Response Organisation (SPRO) to establish and implement a detailed Ship Pollution Response Regime before entering, leaving or starting operations in port.
