GAC Pushes Further into Arctic

GAC Norway opens new Arctic Circle branch at Tromsø in response to growing demand, said the company.Sitting 300km north of the Arctic Circle, Tromsø is the largest urban area in Northern Norway and serves as a portal to the Arctic. It is a popular port of call for cruise vessels, including those specialising in winter tours to treat their passengers to spectacular views of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).Tromsø is also growing in popularity as a base port for the oil & gas and offshore industries.In the past two years, GAC has seen a significant increase in activity at the port, following the signing of two new cruise contracts.

CMA CGM, GAC Ink Agency, Service Deal

The Scandinavian arm of the world’s third largest container shipping company CMA CGM has signed an agency, husbandry and NOx reporting agreement with GAC Norway for its ships calling at the port of Oslo. The CMA CGM Group has a fleet of 470 vessels serving 400 of the world's 521 commercial ports. In 2015, it transported an estimated volume of 13 million TEUs and vessels from its fleet make 52 calls per annum to Oslo to load/discharge a wide range of goods carried in containers from around the world. Its weekly service links the Scandinavian ports of Oslo, Moss, Brevik and Gothenburg with the CMA CGM hub in Rotterdam, and beyond to its global network.

Deal to provide agency, husbandry and NOx reporting at Oslo. GAC Norway Joins 2014 Gaselle List

GAC Norway AS has been added to the 2014 Gaselle List, a nationally-recognised catalogue of Norwegian businesses that have proven sound finances and sustained growth over a number of years. Only about 5% of the businesses that qualify in terms of annual turnover meet the other requirements for inclusion in the list.

Port of Oslo VTC Service Threatened by Strike

A threatened strike by municipal/communal services could affect the Norwegian Port of Oslo's Vessel Traffic Control for maritime traffic entering/leaving the port starting from 27 May, 2014. If the strike goes ahead, it will involve seven of the port’s Traffic Control staff. However, it is expected that the remaining staff will maintain normal, or near normal operations, from 27 to 31 May. In the event that the strike continues beyond the end of the month, all vessel traffic at Oslo - including ferries and charter boats – will come to a halt. Source: GAC Norway

GAC Pushes Further into the Arctic with Polar Logistics Group

GAC Norway AS and Polar Logistics Group ApS (POLOG) formed a strategic partnership to further strengthen GAC's network within the Arctic Circle. The move is the latest stage in the company's Arctic strategy to better serve the region by bringing together organizations and individuals to create a unified network of expertise, experience and local resources. By combining GAC's shipping, logistics and marine expertise with POLOG's network throughout Greenland and ability to meet remote location logistical needs from ice runways to mountaintop camps…

Statoil, GAC Sign World-Wide Agency Contract

Major energy group Statoil has appointed GAC to provide hub agency services covering all ports outside of Norway effective from 2010. The contract extends GAC’s long-standing relationship with Statoil through GAC Norway since the 1980s. Another key contributing factor was GAC’s ability to cover the IT-related demands made by Statoil. This was achieved through the company’s core business tool GACShip – GAC Global Hub Services’ IT system that supports the entire port call process. The application is continually enhanced by experienced in-house developers in close cooperation with GAC’s Global Hub Services’ customers, agents and personnel.
