GAC Dubai Wins Group HSSE Award

GAC Dubai’s introduction of a suite of practical innovations to improve safety in working conditions and reduce the company’s carbon footprint has won it the Group Chairman’s Award for HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) Excellence for 2015. 35 entries were received for the annual Award, which for the first time extended its scope from the previous focus on the environment to also encompass health, safety and security measures. That extension reflects the importance of HSSE compliance in the diverse sectors the GAC Group serves. Simple measures, winning formula GAC Dubai stood out for its implementation of a series of simple measures introduced to enhance HSSE across the board.

Green new-build wins GAC Group Chairman's Environment Award for GEMS

The commitment of GAC Energy & Marine Services (GEMS) to sustainability when building its new purpose-built office and warehouse building in Houston, Texas, has earned it the First Prize in the GAC Group Chairman's Award for Environmental Excellence for 2013. The 180,000+ square feet LEED (Leader in Energy & Environmental Design) certified facility opened in September 2013 to serve GEMS customers while minimizing its impact on the environment and achieving significant savings in energy costs. Built on a previously developed site to avoid the use of unutilised land and the destruction of natural habitat, the building's 'green' design include features which reduce energy and water savings by 34% and 40%, respectively, compared to a conventional office/warehouse building.

GAC Moves Rig from Sri Lanka to India

GAC Sri Lanka has completed the movement of offshore drilling rig Hercules Triumph from the port of Trincomalee to India. The rig, owned by Hercules Offshore, Inc., is now safely anchored at Kakinada, ready to start drilling operations for CAIRN Energy at the RAVVA offshore oil field. GAC Sri Lanka, part of global shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC Group, chartered three anchor-handling tug boats - SCI URJA, SCI Ahimsa and Mahaweli - to off-land the Hercules Triumph from heavy-lift vessel Target at Trincomalee Anchorage and worked in close liaison with the Harbor Master and port officials throughout the complex operation.

Offshore Drill-Rig 'Hercules Triumph' Arrives India

Logistics and marine services provider, GAC Sri Lanka, chartered three anchor-handling tug boats to off-land the 'Hercules Triumph' from heavy-lift vessel 'Target' at Trincomalee Anchorage, Sri Lanka, then  arranged further towage over 700 NM miles to Kakinada, Indai arriving 8 days later. The rig is ready to start drilling operations for CAIRN Energy at the RAVVA offshore oil field. As part of its task to oversee the entire project, GAC Sri Lanka was also responsible for domestic air transfers of Hercules Offshore officials to and from the site.

GAC Sri Lanka has been appointed as the sole authorised agent for multimodal transport operator Sarjak Container lines Pvt (Ltd), handling all their shipping and Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) activities in the country. GAC Hong Kong Wins Chairman’s Environment Award

GAC Hong Kong’s multiple eco-friendly efforts were awarded First Prize in the GAC Group Chairman’s Award for Environmental Excellence for 2012. Since 2009, the company has been recycling paper, aluminum, plastic, toner cartridges, electronic equipment and more. In 2011, GAC Hong Kong’s recycling efforts helped it reduce its carbon footprint by almost four tons, and earned it the second prize in the Chairman’s Award. In 2012, its broad and sustained commitment continued, and the company’s carbon footprint was reduced by more than five tons. The company’s commitment to preserving the environment went beyond the office, with staff volunteering for coastal clean-ups and tree-planting schemes organized by local environmental groups.

GAS SHIPS: GAC Helps Meet Rising Indian Demand

GAC’s in-house ship-to-ship transfer expert GAC Transfer Services (GTS) has responded to growing demand for LPG imports and exports of clean products in the Indian Subcontinent with the establishment of a new fully-equipped base in Sri Lanka. Ship-to-ship (STS) equipment such as fenders and hoses, in accordance with industry standards, is stored at GAC’s base in Galle, which is strategically located at the southern tip of the island nation, and is ready to be transported by tug to different locations according to demand and conditions.
