UK Ship Pilot Dies in Transfer Accident

A U.K. ship pilot has died as result of an accident during a transfer from a pilot launch to a large oceangoing vessel on the east coast of Northern England.The accident occurred on January 8, 2023 in the Humber Estuary, the UK Maritime Pilots’ Association (UK MPA) said in a statement. The U.K.'s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has opened a full investigation into the cause of the incident.Killed in the incident was Capt. Aberdeen Pupils Peek into Subsea Oil & Gas Technology

Pupils at an Aberdeen primary school were given a rare insight into the depths of the oil and gas industry’s subsea sector after getting to sit in the driving seat of a remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) simulator. The Tullos Primary visit to i-Tech was organised by EnQuest as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to encouraging youngsters to consider a career in the oil and gas industry. Around 20 primary five pupils were shown why ROVs are increasingly becoming pivotal to the critical path of subsea operations during the tour at i-Tech, which is a division of Subsea 7 and a global-leading supplier of ROV and intervention tooling solutions.

Jumbo Wins EnQuest Offshore Contract

Jumbo has been awarded a North Sea FPSO mooring, installation and hook-up contract by EnQuest. EnQuest is redeveloping the Ardmore and Duncan fields as Alma and Galia respectively. The project scope is the mooring spread installation and FPSO tow out and hook up. This will be the first offshore project in which Jumbo will act as the main contractor and not as a subcontractor. EnQuest is redeveloping the Alma and Galia fields, located in Blocks 30/24, 30/25 and 30/29, 310km south-east of Aberdeen in the UK North Sea.

New Safety Milestone for EnQuest

EnQuest Safety Milestone

EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent production company in the UK North Sea, has reached a new North Sea safety milestone by recording five years free of Lost Time Incidents (LTIs) on drilling operations in the Thistle field. The LTI achievement covers a period of major operational activity which saw EnQuest bring Thistle drilling back online to drill its first new wells in 20 years.
