DNV Presents AIP for NoGAPS Ammonia-powered Gas Carrier Design

Classification society DNV has awarded the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping in collaboration with Nordic Green Ammonia Powered Ships (NoGAPS) partners BW Epic Kosan, Yara, MAN Energy Solutions, Wärtsilä, Global Maritime Forum and Breeze Ship Design an Approval in Principle (AiP) for the design of an ammonia-powered gas carrier – the M/S NoGAPS. The certificate was presented during the Nor-Shipping trade fair at the DNV stand.The maritime industry is accelerating in its drive towards a multi-fuel zero carbon future.

LR and LISCR Award Design Approval for World’s First 22,000cbm Multi-gas Carrier

Lloyd’s Register (LR) and the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR) have awarded design approval to HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) for the development of the world’s first 22,000cbm multi-gas carrier as part of a joint development project for LCO2 carrier design and development. Navigator Gas was awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) for an ammonia fueled gas carrier design from DNV. The new design draws together a consortium including MAN Energy Solutions, Babcock International and the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA), all of which have collaborated with Navigator Gas to earn the AiP.The design earned the AiP based on the special features notation (GF NH3) under DNV’s new rules for the use of ammonia as fuel in gas carriers. ABS AIPs for Hudong-Zhonghua Gas Carrier Design

The global provider of classification and technical advisory services to the marine and offshore industries ABS has granted Approval in Principle (AIP) to two new gas carrier designs from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding.The two new vessel designs are for a 200,000cbm LNG Carrier and a 147,000cbm Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC).“ABS is proud to support the pioneering work of Hudong Zhonghua in the design and delivery of gas carriers.
