Dutch offshore installation firm Heerema Marine Contractors said Tuesday it had broken a world lifting record with the installation of a 17,000 metric ton TotalEnergies' Tyra TEG module in the Danish sector of the North Sea.The TEG module, described as the biggest Tyra II project topside, was installed on the last remaining bare jacket at the Tyra offshore field."The lift of the 17,000 metric tons heavy process module broke a world record as the heaviest crane lift ever undertaken at sea.

Singapore's offshore platform constructor Sembcorp Marine has completed the fabrication of two wellhead topsides, one riser topside, and two bridges for deployment at TotalEnergies’ Tyra field redevelopment in the Danish North Sea.The topsides and bridges sailed away from Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard Sunday. Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), the largest and oldest shipping company on the Caspian sea, informed that works on laying pipes in the Absheron gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea are under way.“Aura” tow-vessel vessel and “Suleyman Vezirov” pipe- laying ship of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) were involved in the pipe laying operations.The first phase of the operations has already been completed. Thus, the 13299-meter pipeline between “Darwin Bank” and “Absheron Bank” was fully laid.At present, the pipe laying process is carried out by ships between “Absheron Bank” and “Western Absheron”. Sovcomflot’s three unique Arctic shuttle tankers, of the Shturman Albanov series, have now transported one million tonnes of crude oil produced at the Novy Port oil and gas condensate field, from the Gulf of Ob (Kara Sea) to the port of Murmansk. The milestone millionth tonne cargo of oil was loaded on Shturman Albanov on 29 January 2017 at the Arctic Gate marine terminal located near Cape Kamenny (Gulf of Ob). In total, SCF tankers have completed 33 voyages with Novy Port grade oil since last autumn. Maersk Oil North Sea UK limited has contracted MODEC, Inc. to supply a floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel for the Culzean development project in the U.K. Central North Sea. The contract awards MODEC responsibility for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the FSO, while the internal turret mooring system will be designed and supplied by MODEC subsidiary SOFEC, Inc. The FSO will feature receiving capacity of 25,000 barrels of condensate per day, with storage capacity of 350,000 barrels. MODEC president and CEO, Toshiro Miyazaki, noted that the new contract represents a milestone for the company as it marks MODEC's entry into the North Sea oil and gas industry. MODEC said it expects to deliver the complete unit to Maersk Oil UK in the first half of 2018.

Gazprom Group continues earmarking considerable funds for financing research and development (R&D) activities. In 2014 a record-breaking amount in the whole Company history – RUB 10.82 billion – was devoted to these purposes. Gazprom is one of the leading Russian investors into innovations. More than a half of these funds were channeled to priority engineering projects. Thus, for the first time a comprehensive engineering design was prepared for developing the Kharasaveyskoye gas & condensate field located partly onshore, partly offshore. Sovcomflot (SCF Group) and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) have taken steps to make the Russian fleet more competitive. In 2014, 10 SCF Group vessels were transferred to the RS class, meaning that it is now responsible for the survey of 40 Sovcomflot ships in total. These include the very latest Atlanticmax LNG carriers, multi-purpose icebreaking supply vessels, crude oil tankers, chemical carriers and tugs. In order to satisfy the increasing requirements of large-scale oil and gas projects on Russia’s continental shelf, Sovcomflot plans to expand its fleet of specialized and technically advanced vessels operating under the flag of the Russian Federation, whilst continuing to develop mutually-beneficial partnerships with Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

When it comes to Arctic operations, the Russians arguably have more hands-on experience and investment than any other nation. With that in mind, Maritime Reporter spoke recently with Georgiy Bedrik, Head of the RS Business Development Division, for his input on RS and matters of the Arctic, maritime and offshore. Please give a brief description of the market you serve. In maritime, RS renders a full scope of classification services for ships including plan approval, survey under construction and in operation, as well as statutory surveys in compliance with international codes and conventions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed off a new law on mineral extraction tax incentives for hydrocarbons produced in Yamal and the Nenets Autonomous District, reports official news agency Arctic-info. The document [signed] also refers to the resources that are extracted in Eastern Siberia, the Sea of Japan, the Gyda Peninsula and the Bazhenov Suite. According to the official online portal of legal information, the law was signed on June 28, 2014. A tax rate of 15% is set for hydrocarbon raw materials produced on new marine deposits. For a number of fields, the law introduces a zero rate of mineral extraction tax. In particular, for oil fields in Yakutia, the Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk regions it will remain in effect until a level of oil production of 25 million tonnes is achieved.

Currently, 320 oil/gas floating production units are now in service, on order or available for reuse on another field. FPSOs account for 65% of the existing systems, 76% of systems on order. Production semis, barges, spars and TLPs comprise the balance. Total oil/gas inventory is down two units since last month – two off-field FPSOs have been scrapped. Another 27 floating LNG processing systems are in service or on order. Liquefaction floaters account for 15%, regasification floaters 85%. No liquefaction floaters are yet in service – all four are on order.

Japan's JGC Corporation with France's Technip to carry out the EPIC & commissioning of an integrated facility for natural gas liquefaction at the Yamal Peninsular. The contract was awarded by JSC Yamal LNG, owned by NOVATEK (80%) and TOTAL (20%). The project will start immediately with a phase of estimation, detailed engineering and early procurement. The Yamal Peninsula located in Yamal-Nenets autonomous district of northwest Siberia, Russia, extends roughly 700 km (435 mi) and is bordered principally by the Kara Sea, Baydaratskaya Bay on the west, and by the Gulf of Ob on the east. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 16.5 million tons and will be based of the resources of the South Tambey Gas Condensate field located on the Yamal Peninsula, Russia.

Ocean Installer has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation (EPCI) contract for subsea installations and tie-in operations at the Statoil operated fields Gina Krog (former Dagny) and Eirin. The total contract value is approximately $85 million (U.S.), including options. The scope of work is part of the field development of the Gina Krogand Eirin fields and includes design, fabrication and subsea installation of Gas Export Pipeline End Manifold (PLEM), the oil export riser base, the tie-in spools and covers, as well as all associated remote tie-in operations. The work scope related to the Eirin field is included as an option due to the later project sanctioning schedule for this development.

McDermott International, Inc. announced that certain of its subsidiaries have entered into an agreement in which McDermott has acquired all of the outstanding shares of the DeepSea operating companies. Terms of the purchase are not being disclosed. Headquartered in London, England, with engineering offices in Houston, Europe and Asia Pacific, DeepSea’s specialty services encompass subsea engineering and project management and extend from the wellhead to fixed, floating or shore-based production facilities for oil and gas operators worldwide.

According to 'LNG World News' the ships will be built on a joint class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and Lloyd’s Register (LR) by order of Sovcomflot for Gazprom Global LNG, acting as charterer. RS will act as the leading classification society. The ships are membrane-type LNG carriers with a capacity of 170,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas and will be equipped with a three-fuel diesel-electric propulsion plant, allowing to use LNG as fuel. The use of gas as fuel will significantly reduce emissions of NOx and SOx, which is a necessary requirement for modern ships within the tightening of international air emissions standards.

ConocoPhillips confirmed the discovery of a new gas condensate field in blocks 30/6 and 30/7 in the United Kingdom sector of the North Sea, approximately five miles (nine kilometres) west of the Judy field. ConocoPhillips UK Limited is the Operator and holds a participating interest of 36.5 percent in the new discovery along with ENI SpA (33.0 percent) and BG Group (30.5 percent). Exploration well 30/6-6, which ConocoPhillips drilled earlier this year in a water depth of 265 feet (81 meters), confirmed the presence of a hydrocarbon accumulation. An immediate sidetrack of the well, drilled to a total depth of approximately 16,000 feet (4800 meters) True Vertical Depth Subsea (TVDSS), further delineated the discovery.

Halliburton's Production Optimization Division has been awarded a Pipeline & Process Services (PPS) contract by Technip Oceania Pty Ltd for testing and pre-commissioning services for the North West Shelf Venture’s Perseus over Goodwyn (PoG) Project. Operated by Woodside Energy Ltd, the PoG development is located 134 kilometers off the northwest coast of Western Australia and is one of several developments being undertaken within the larger North West Shelf area. Woodside is further developing the Perseus gas/condensate field via a subsea tieback to the Goodwyn A platform, approximately 15 kilometers northeast of the field. The PPS work scope will be completed over a two-month period starting in November 2006 and will involve the pre-flooding of spools and associated assemblies…
