DNV GL, SGN Join Forces to Deliver Innovative project

Following a successful Network Innovation Competition bid in 2015, DNV GL has secured innovation funding from SGN to partner in a project to demonstrate the viability and practical reality of a mixed-source, energy-centric gas network for the future. The project was developed, and will be delivered, in partnership with SGN who are one of the UK's key gas distribution operators, and industry leaders in innovation. The integrated energy network of the future must be flexible, secure, cost effective and above all safe. The changing gas industry, driven by a reduced North Sea supply is increasingly required to accommodate gas from more diverse sources such as biomethane and shale gas.

Petrobras’ Platform P-62 Begins Production

Petrobras announced that production platform P-62, one of the strategic projects of its 2014-2018 Business and Management Plan, started-up on this Monday, May 12, in Roncador field, Campos Basin. P-62, installed at a water depth of 1,600 meters, is an integral part of the Module 4 project of Roncador field. Twenty-two wells, 14 of them oil and gas production and eight water injection will be interconnected to the platform. The FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) unit has the capacity to process up to 180 thousand barrels of oil and 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. The platform will export oil via shuttle tankers and natural gas will be transferred via a gas pipeline connecting the platform to the gas distribution network of Campos Basin.

Gas Fueled Engines for Coastal Ferries

The first ship sets of Bergen gas engine powered generator sets have now been delivered for ferries fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The KVGS-12G4 gensets form part of the order for power plant for a series of five double ended ferries which will provide vital links in the main road system on the west coast of Norway. The choice of LNG as fuel for these ferries was driven by two main considerations: reducing exhaust emissions of CO2 and NOx and creating a base load demand for LNG around which a broader local land gas distribution network can be built up. Five vessels are under construction. Three of them will operate on the Halhjem/Sandvikvåg route connection south of Bergen and these will be powered for a 21 knot service speed.
