The first shipload of liquefied natural gas (LNG) arrival to the LNG import terminal in Tornio, Finland, on Sunday November 19, 2017. The Manga LNG natural gas import terminal in Röyttä Harbor, Tornio, is a joint venture of the industrial companies Outokumpu and SSAB Europe, the energy company EPV Energy and the LNG company Skangas. LNG was shipped to the terminal by Coral Energy, a time-chartered LNG carrier operated by Skangas. Once completed in summer 2018, the import terminal will be the largest LNG terminal in the Nordic countries and the second LNG terminal in Finland. U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)'s latest Short-Term Energy Outlook projects that the United States will export more natural gas than it imports in 2017. The U.S. has been a net exporter for three of the past four months and is expected to continue to export more natural gas than it imports for the rest of 2017 and throughout 2018. The nation’ status as a net exporter is expected to continue past 2018 because of growing U.S. natural gas exports to Mexico, declining pipeline imports from Canada, and increasing exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The U.S. is currently the world's largest natural gas producer, having surpassed Russia in 2009. Natural gas production in the U.S. increased from 55 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2008 to 72.5 Bcf/d in 2016.

Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) jointly launched the nation’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Truck Loading Facility during a ceremony held on 12 April 2017, at the SLNG Terminal. The launch, which was officiated by Chief Executive Officer of SLNG, Mr John Ng, and Chief Executive of MPA, Mr Andrew Tan, marks the readiness of the facility for operations. Finland’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal at Pori on the west coast was officially opened, says Gasum. Deliveries of LNG to customers began on the same day, the company said in its statement. It enables LNG deliveries to industrial, maritime and heavy-duty road transport customers outside the gas pipeline network and diversifies the Finnish energy market. Access to LNG in Finland will improve considerably following the opening of the terminal. This is an important competitiveness factor for the M20 Industrial Park at the Port of Pori as well as current industrial operators in the area, of which the energy company Huntsman Pigments and Additives Oy, Kemira Oyj, Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta Oy and Porin Prosessivoima have already switched to LNG.

Sunday July 10th 2016 the first shipload of liquefied natural gas (LNG) arrived at the Gasum’s subsidiary Skangas LNG terminal in Pori. To be completed in August, the facility is the first LNG import terminal in Finland. LNG was brought with the time chartered Skangas Coral Energy carrier from the North West Europe. The Skangas LNG terminal is undergoing commissioning, and commercial deliveries to customers will begin in September. LNG will help diversify the Finnish energy market as it enables deliveries to industrial operators outside the gas pipeline network as well as for maritime and heavy-duty road transport. The construction of the Skangas LNG import terminal in Pori has progressed according to the planned schedule without any accidents resulting in absence from work.

Finnish gas utility Gasum has abandoned its plans to build the Finngulf liquefied natural gas  (LNG) import terminal in Finland with an offshore pipeline connection (known as Balticconnector) to Estonia, reports Reuters. “On the basis of the studies Gasum has conducted, the Finngulf and Balticconnector projects are not regarded as commercially viable and there is not sufficient demand for them in the Finnish market,” Gasum said in a statement. The company's surveys show that the Finnish gas market has changed significantly compared to 2008, when these projects were started. Natural gas is not as competitive as it used to be and consumption has significantly decreased, said Gasum. “The competitiveness of gas has deteriorated and gas consumption has decreased.

Dana Gas said it has signed an agreement for the North El Arish (Block 6) Concession Area, offshore the eastern Nile Delta. The 2,980 sq. km block was awarded in April 2013 as part of a competitive bidding process. This is the company’s first offshore block in Egypt, covering water depths from 20 up to a 1,000 m. Multiple play types have already been identified within the acreage and plans for the first exploration phase of four years, which has now commenced, includes seismic acquisition and the drilling of one exploration well.

WESMAR has shipped six of its large commercial bow thrusters for installation on three, 80-meter Ropax (Ro-Ro) vessels that will be working on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project of historic proportion in Australia. The vessels are part of the Curtis Island LNG project and will be working off Gladstone near Curtis Island. The order is from Ultimate Marine Power, WESMAR’s dealer along the Australian East Coast. According to the Owner/Director of that company, Dave Murray, two each of the six WESMAR 180 KW AC V2-34 (250 HP) Bow Thruster systems will be installed on each Ropax vessel.

Sean T. Connaughton signed Excelerate Energy’s Northeast Gateway Energy Bridge Deepwater Port license today in Washington DC. Excelerate will build the Northeast Gateway deepwater port approximately 18 miles east of Boston, Massachusetts. Spectra Energy, formerly Duke Energy, will build a 16-mile subsea pipeline from its existing HubLine to the deepwater port site to transfer natural gas from the vessels into New England’s gas pipeline network. Excelerate Energy will construct and own the deepwater port, which will be operated by Skaugen Offshore and will accommodate Excelerate’s proprietary Energy Bridge Regasification Vessel (EBRV) fleet operated by Exmar NV. The port’s infrastructure will feature two submerged turret loading buoys supplied by Advanced Production and Loading.

ChevronTexaco has submitted a Deepwater Port license application to the Department of Transportation, United States Coast Guard to construct and operate a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) receiving and regasification terminal in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico (GOM). The development, also known as Port Pelican, would consist of an LNG ship receiving terminal, LNG storage and regasification facilities, and pipeline interconnection to existing infrastructure to deliver natural gas into the United States interstate gas pipeline network. Audie Setters, general manager of ChevronTexaco Overseas Petroleum's International Gas Group, said the Port Pelican project is evidence of ChevronTexaco's long-term commitment to supplying safer, cleaner and more efficient sources of energy to North America.
