New Fortress Energy has executed a binding agreement to charter a floating storage and regasification unit (“FSRU”) to Dutch energy network operator Gasunie, in an effort by the Netherlands to reduce Russian gas imports. The chartered FSRU will provide storage capacity of approximately 170,000 m3 of liquefied natural gas with peak regasification capacity of 900 mmscfd. New Fortress Energy's FSRU will work in tandem with a third party’s FSRU to provide up to 8 bcm per year of total regas capacity.

Vopak, a Dutch natural gas infrastructure and transportation company operating in the Netherlands and Germany, has teamed up with the tank storage firm Gasunie to jointly develop future terminal infrastructure projects for hydrogen import into Northwest Europe via Dutch and German ports. Port of Rotterdam Authority, Dutch natural gas infrastructure and transportation company  Gasunie and Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN) are preparing a CCUS (Carbon Capture Usage and Storage) project, in which CO₂ from industry will be transported to storage sites in depleted gas fields deep beneath the North Sea seabed.The three companies are working together on the preparation of this project under the name Porthos: Port of Rotterdam CO₂ Transport Hub & Offshore Storage.The Porthos project is being developed as an open access transport and storage infrastructure which can be used by multiple parties to store CO₂. Europe’s leading energy companies RWE and German LNG Terminal GmbH, the joint venture driving forward Germany’s first LNG terminal in Brunsbüttel in Northern Germany, have reached an agreement for a considerable part of the terminal’s capacity on a long-term basis.This contract follows a successful “Open Season” in which market interest was tested. Shell loads first LNG vessel, using new LNG fuel infrastructure at Gate terminal. The new LNG fuel infrastructure included the construction of a new berth. This new berth has now started operations. The loading of Shell’s chartered LNG vessel, the Coral Methane happened on September 19th. In July 2014, Shell took the Final Investment Decision to buy capacity at the Gas Access to Europe (Gate) terminal, which enabled the investment in new, dedicated liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel infrastructure. The new LNG fuel infrastructure included the construction of a new berth.

Gate terminal and its shareholders Gasunie and Vopak are proud to announce that the LNG terminal at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam has been expanded to include a third berth and special infrastructure for the loading of small LNG vessels. In conjunction with LNG bunker vessels, the new berth will in future also make it easier for ocean-going vessels to fill up with LNG in Rotterdam. As with other kinds of maritime fuel LNG can be pumped on board large ocean-going vessels using bunker vessels. These can now be loaded at Gate terminal which receives LNG from large LNG tankers arriving from several global origins. The use of LNG as a maritime fuel is being encouraged by the European Union, the Dutch government and the Port of Rotterdam because of its more environmentally-friendly properties.

The bunkering of the Ternsund was initiated today in Rotterdam, marking the first seagoing vessel to bunker liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the port. At a Meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Han Fennema, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Gasunie a Framework Agreement on cooperation in the area of small scale LNG was signed by the two parties. The document stipulates the cooperation in the small scale LNG market in Europe, with a focus on joint projects for the construction of LNG receiving terminals, LNG filling stations and other infrastructure facilities. The parties also looked into the possibility of initiating a joint pilot project for constructing a small LNG receiving terminal in Northwest Europe. The terminal will be used for storing, shipping and selling LNG as a bunker and vehicle fuel as well as an energy source for autonomous gasification.

Dutch gas network operator Gasunie and tank storage service provider Vopak said on Monday that the expansion of their Gate liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Rotterdam has begun. The new infrastructure is expected to aid the use of LNG as a transport fuel and is expected to be operational towards the end of the first half of 2016. Gate receives, stores, regasifies and delivers LNG into northwest Europe's grid. Gate terminal will have break-bulk infrastructure and services added, which will help split up large LNG shipments into smaller quantities.
