Shearwater Wins 1st Project in S. America

Norway-based provider of marine geophysical services, Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a 3D Isometrix seismic survey by Colombia’s Ecopetrol.It will be Shearwater’s first Isometrix survey in Latin America with marine acquisition starting in Q4 2019, said GC Rieber Shipping ASA's 20% owned geoservices company.The survey covers 2 000 sq. km of 3D seismic offshore Colombia on Ecopetrol’s Block COL-5 and will be acquired by the SW Amundsen equipped with Isometrix multisensor streamer technology.Isometrix streamer technology is a true 3D multisensor system that can record the full seismic wavefield enabling better receiver deghosting and improved seismic images.

GC Rieber Shipping Fleet Utilisation Hits 100%

Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber Shipping ASA had a fleet utilization of 100% in the second quarter of 2019.The operator of offshore subsea support vessels, marine seismic vessels and polar logistics and research expeditions said that the subsea and ice/support vessels have contract coverage of 44% for the remainder of the year while Shearwater GeoServices Shearwater has confirmed backlog of more than 26 vessel-months in the third and fourth quarter of 2019 following the award of multiple seismic acquisition contracts.GC Rieber Shipping had operating income of NOK 91.9 million in the second quarter of 2019, compared with NOK 60.7 million in the corresponding period 2018. EBITDA was NOK 41.3 million, compared with NOK 9.3 million in the second quarter of 2018.

Equinor Awards 4D Seismic Gig to Shearwater

Shearwater GeoServices announced the award of a 4D seismic survey at the Troll Unit by Equinor AS to be conducted this summer.The company 20% owned by GC Rieber Shipping ASA said that the project adds further to Shearwater’s 4D program in the North Sea and Barents Sea this season.The Troll Unit survey will last approximately 2 months and be conducted by the Amazon Conqueror using Shearwater's Isometrix system."The award of the Troll Unit project from Equinor adds to our extensive 4D and Isometrix program for the 2019 summer season. Shearwater Completes Acquisition of Schlumberger's Seismic Fleet

GC Rieber Shipping Taps Ytredal as CEO

Norwegian offshore shipping company GC Rieber Shipping announced acting chief executive officer Einar Ytredal has appointed to the CEO role on a permanent basis. At the same time, Øystein Kvåle was named new chief financial officer (CFO) and Christoffer Knudsen was promoted to chief commercial officer (CCO).Ytredal was appointed acting CEO in mid-September 2018. He has been with the company since 2007, first as vice president finance and then as CFO since September 2011. Before joining GC Rieber Shipping, Ytredal worked at Deloitte.

Shearwater to Buy Schlumberger’s Seismic Business

Norwegian marine geophysical services company Shearwater GeoServices Holding AS has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the marine seismic acquisition assets and operations of Schlumberger’s geophysical services product line, WesternGeco.The transaction, which remains subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2018.Houston based Schlumberger will receive cash consideration based on an enterprise value of $600 million plus a 15 percent post-closing equity interest in Shearwater. For a limited period, Schlumberger  will be entitled to payments under an earn-out agreement linked to future vessel usage over and above specific thresholds.

Court Dismisses Claim against Armada Seismic Invest II

The Supreme Court has dismissed claims of EUR 9 mln (USD 10.51 mln) from Norway's PGS Geophysical (UK) Limited against Armada Seismic Invest II AS in connection with the delivery of 3D seismic vessel Polar Duchess, said a press release from GC Rieber Shipping ASA. The Norwegian shipping company that operates offshore subsea support vessels said in a stock exchange annoucement: "Reference is made to the stock exchange announcement 29 May 2018, where it was announced that PGS had appealed Gulating Court of Appeal`s decision in PGS claim of approx. "The dispute has now been adjudicated by the Supreme Court`s appeals committee, which has rendered its decision. The Supreme Court's appeal committee ruled in favor of Armada and the claim against Armada has been dismissed," it added.

SeaBird Exploration Appoints Hans Petter Klohs as CEO

SeaBird Exploration, a global provider of high end 2D, source and shallow water 2D/3D seismic services and associated products to the oil and gas industry, appointed Hans Petter Klohs as new CEO of the Company. The Board of Directors of the Company announced that The appointment takes effect as of 24 June 2018. Klohs has extensive senior executive management experience from Norwegian publicly listed entities in both oil service and oil & gas. Previous senior positions include serving as CFO and later as CEO in GC Rieber Shipping ASA for over 10 years, serving as CEO in Arrow Seismic ASA and Armada Seismic ASA, and acting as CFO in Rocksource ASA. Klohs intends to resign from his position as board member of the Company as a consequence of the appointment.

Shearwater GeoServices Wins Contracts in West Africa

GC Rieber Shipping ASA's 50% owned geoservices company Shearwater GeoServices has been awarded a contract to acquire 3D seismic for Genel Energy in the Sidi Moussa license offshore Morocco. Additionally, Shearwater has been awarded a five months contract for an undisclosed client engaged in West Africa. The market outlook is improving, and the two contracts add significantly to Shearwater's backlog for the 2018 summer and autumn seasons. Genel Energy, one of the largest independent oil producers listed on the London Stock Exchange, has been active in Morocco for several years and plan to acquire seismic offshore Morocco with the expectation to materially de-risk the prospectively of the Sidi Moussa license.

TGS Awards Seismic Survey Contract to Shearwater GeoServices

Shearwater GeoServices, jointly owned by GC Rieber Shipping ASA and Rasmussengruppen AS, has been awarded a new contract by geophysical company TGS. The project is expected to take approximately three months and is scheduled to be completed by the end of September, 2018. For the second consecutive year Shearwater has been awarded a contract for a seismic survey on the Atlantic Margin in the Norwegian Sea. The 2018 survey will cover 5,135 km2 and will be performed by one of Shearwater's high-end 3D vessels. The vessel will utilize FlexiSource and a wide tow spread, for which all Shearwater vessels are designed. "We are very happy to return to the Atlantic Margin to work with TGS once more, extending the largest 3D seismic survey in Northern Europe.

Rasmussengruppen Sells Stake in Norden

Oslo based financial investor Rasmussengruppen sold its entire stake which is 4.8 million shares of Danish dry bulk bulker owner Norden. The company's share capital consists of 42,200,000 shares of DKK 1 each, amounting to DKK 42,200,000. Rasmussengruppen was the second biggest investor in Norden, after Danish company A/S Motortramp on 28.08%. Norden  operates one of the industry’s most modern, flexible and competitive fleets globally within the dry cargo and tanker vessel types. Norden  was founded in 1871 and is one of the world’s oldest listed ship owners. Rasmussengruppen AS owns and operates tankers and provides marine transportation services. It has strategic alliances with GC Rieber Shipping ASA. The company was founded in 1936 and is based in Kristiansand, Norway.

GC Rieber Charter Agreement with Reach Subsea

GC Rieber Shipping ASA has entered into a time charter agreement with Reach Subsea for the CSV Polar King to support Norwegian University for Science and Technology’s (NTNU) scientific operation under the MarMine Project in the mid-Atlantic ridge. The project will deploy ROV, AUV and grabs for seabed mapping and sampling for geological and biological research related to marine mining. Estimated duration is three weeks. “We’re excited to yet again take part in research and exploration activities in the North Atlantic region, an activity which forms an important part of GC Rieber Shipping’s heritage.”, says GC Rieber CEO Irene Waage Basili.

Rieber Amends Dolphin Deal

Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber Shipping ASA has entered into an agreement with Dolphin Geophysical to increase Dolphins competitiveness in a challenging market. Rieber has agreed to take early redelivery of the survey vessel Polar Duke from Dolphin  as part of an overall restructuring agreement. The deal will reduce $16million of hire payments for GC Rieber. Together with Dolphin’s improved terms of bank loans and reduced charter rates on Dolphin’s vessels from fellow Norwegian shipping firm Sanco, the deal will significantly improve Dolphin’s costbase. In addition, GC Rieber Shipping will grant Dolphin a rolling credit facility of USD 5 million, consisting of payments due to GC Rieber Shipping. The credit facility is effective for 9 months.

Otto Marine Settles Contract Dispute

A year after a shipbuilding contract dispute emerged between Otto Marine unit Otto Offshore and GC Rieber Shipping ASA, a settlement has been reached. Otto Marine announced that it has entered into a 'mutually beneficial global settlement' with GC Rieber, which includes settling the claims from last year and terminating the joint venture agreement for Polar Marine II Pte Ltd - the firm that is 49 per cent owned by Otto Marine and 51 per cent owned by GC Rieber. The joint venture included four vessels and as part of the settlement, Otto Offshore will take over three of them while GC Rieber will take over the remaining one. Of the three vessels, Otto Offshore had chartered out one and also announced yesterday that it had agreed to sell another one for 24.1 million euros (S$43.8 million).
