The recently signed smart carrousel plan in the Waalhaven is expected to give breakbulk and heavy cargo companies space for further growth in Rotterdam’s Waalhaven.In the coming three-and-a-half years, 12 hectares of industrial site and 1,155 metres of quay will undergo a user change. Shipbuilder Senesco Marine has delivered a new articulated tug and barge (ATB) to Reinauer Transportation Companies. The launch of the unit, including the 8,000hp tug and 150,000bbl barge, marks the largest such ATB constructed in the U.S. Northeast.The ATB was built as an international SOLAS class unit and incorporates the latest build technology and equipment design, Senesco Marine said.The 124’ x 40’ tug Bert Reinauer features two 12-cylinder GE U.S. Tier 4 certified marine diesel engines for propulsion…

Reinauer Transportation Companies, LLC, purchased two GE U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 4 certified marine diesel engines and two Lufkin Marine Propulsion Gearboxes for its new articulated tug and barge (ATB), GE Marine announced. The ATB will be built by Senesco Marine and is scheduled to be commissioned in early 2016 to transport petroleum products in U.S. and International coastal waters. Local engine support will be provided by GE Marine’s Distributor, Cummins MidSouth.

GE US Equipment Financing has appointed Steve Isaacson as National Sales Leader. Isaacson is a veteran of the commercial marine finance industry, joining GE in 2001 after a 15-year career managing SAFECO Credit’s national marine group in Seattle. Isaacson had served the past two years as the northwest regional sales manager for GE USEF. “Steve’s extensive industry expertise in Marine financing will help us provide our marine industry customers with a more customized set of solutions across the spectrum of financing needs including new and used vessel acquisitions, vessel re-power and upgrade projects, fleet acquisitions, growth capital, working capital, balance sheet management and recapitalizations,” said Juan Corsillo, vice president of marketing and strategic initiatives for GE USEF.

Two Dutch dredging firms played down market talk that they were about to place sizeable shipbuilding contracts with IHC Caland. Dredging and construction firm Ballast Nedam said it was considering ordering a jumbo dredging ship as economic growth in Southeast Asia recovered, "but we haven't approached any shipyards yet," said spokeswoman Nel de Geus. Builder HBG repeated a statement made at its first half results presentation on Sept. 2. "We gave our unit HAM permission to order a jumbo dredger before the end of 1999...from a Dutch ship yard...This could be IHC Caland," HBG spokesman Arno Pronk said. He added HBG would make it public if a contract were signed.
