A captain claims victory at the end of a popular high-stakes fishing competition thanks to help from a new electronic boat control system.When the Summer to Fall bluefin tuna season ends in Gloucester, Mass., it’s only just beginning in North Carolina’s Outer Banks. It’s in these rough waters that commercial fishermen compete on the TV show, “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks.” A spin-off of the original “Wicked Tuna,” this series has run on National Geographic since 2014 and recently completed its seventh season on air in September 2020.Fishing for bluefin tuna comes with unique challenges.

Major Supply Contracts Awarded for Finland's New Warships

A fisherman from a popular reality television series recently outfitted his vessel with a new electronic control system—giving him the edge in a high-stakes fishing competition.The waters of the North Atlantic Ocean can be treacherous—especially for fishermen pursuing the elusive bluefin tuna. This pursuit is the subject of the popular reality television series, “Wicked Tuna,” which chronicles the competition between commercial bluefin tuna fishermen in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

DMC Steering System for Sunstone

Netherlands-based Damen Marine Components (DMC) will supply the rudders and steering gear for SunStone Ships' fifth Infinity-class polar expedition cruise ship.The 200-passenger vessel will be built by China Merchants Heavy Industries to an Ulstein design. MAN Diesel & Turbo Bags Chinese Ferry Orders

MAN Diesel & Turbo has secured a contract for the supply of four 9L48/60CR engines for the diesel-mechanical propulsion of two passenger ferries for Chinese shipping companies, Huadong Ferry and Dadong Ferry. The two newbuildings are currently under construction at Huanghai Shipyard in Shangdong, China. Both vessels have a passenger capacity of 1,500 and are intended to connect South Korea with the Chinese mainland upon entering service. MAN Diesel & Turbo will deliver the complete propulsion package for the ferries with each vessel receiving 2 × 9L48/60CR engines – providing a combined output of 21,600 kW, two Renk gear systems and two five-bladed, five-metre-diameter MAN Alpha CP propellers. The propulsion control system is MAN’s Alphatronic 3000.

Liebherr’s 2013 Turnover Steady Despite Weak Economic Climate

The overall economic situation did not improve in 2013. According to current forecasts, the global economy will grow by just under 3% and global production probably by 3.1%. In this year the volume of worldwide trade will, according to World Trade Organization (WTO) forecasts, increase by 2.5%. MAAG Gear Ag Wins Order For Five Codag Gear Units in Spain

MAAG Gear Ag,a Swiss based company of FLS Industries, Denmark, has been awarded the contract by the Spanish shipyard IZAR, one of the biggest shipyards world-wide for naval ships. The contract covers the supply of five gearbox systems for new F-310 type frigates of the Norwegian Navy. The new frigates will be equipped with the most modern systems available today, including a combined Diesel and gasturbine (CODAG)propulsion system with high efficiency and low noise level gear units. The delivery of the first gearset will be end of 2002, followed by one gearset each year until 2006. The order is included in this years sales budget for naval gears, and the total order intake by mid year for MAAG is considerably higher than budgeted.
