Damen Naval to Equip Anti-Submarine Warfare Frigates with RENK Gearboxes

Damen Naval has contracted RENK to supply the gearbox systems for the new anti-submarine warfare (ASW) frigates.The Dutch shipyard is building four new frigates, two each for the Royal Netherlands Navy and the Belgian navy.The contract includes eight gearboxes that are part of the CODLAD (COmbined Diesel-eLectric And Diesel) propulsion system.RENK's Dutch subsidiary Schelde Gears will provide support in design and service activities.The first gearboxes are due to arrive for installation in October 2025…

MAAG Gear Ag Wins Order For Five Codag Gear Units in Spain

MAAG Gear Ag,a Swiss based company of FLS Industries, Denmark, has been awarded the contract by the Spanish shipyard IZAR, one of the biggest shipyards world-wide for naval ships. The contract covers the supply of five gearbox systems for new F-310 type frigates of the Norwegian Navy. The new frigates will be equipped with the most modern systems available today, including a combined Diesel and gasturbine (CODAG)propulsion system with high efficiency and low noise level gear units. The delivery of the first gearset will be end of 2002, followed by one gearset each year until 2006. The order is included in this years sales budget for naval gears, and the total order intake by mid year for MAAG is considerably higher than budgeted.

MAAG to Supply Gearboxes for IZAR-Built Norwegian Naval Vessels

Danish engineering group FLS Industries on Tuesday said its Swiss-based MAAG unit won a 120 million crown ($13.8 million) order to supply gearbox systems to a Spanish shipbuilding group. The order is for five high efficiency, ultra-low noise combined diesel and gas turbine propulsion gearbox systems to be installed in frigates to be built for the Norwegian navy by Spanish shipbuilder IZAR, one of the world's leading producers of naval vessels, FLS said in a statement. Delivery of the gear sets is due to start in 2002 with the order scheduled for completion in 2006.
