Thenamaris to install Starlink LEO Internet

Austal, Fred. Olsen Partner on Trimarans

Australian-based global ship building company Austal and the UK-based, Norwegian-owned cruise shipping line Fred. KHI Wins AiP from DNV GL for LFPP

The international accredited registrar and classification society DNV GL has awarded the Japanese multinational corporation Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) an Approval in Principle (AIP) for their LNG floating power plant (LFPP).The classification body said in a press release that the LFPP is a decentralized energy generation solution that enables locations to tap into natural gas as part of their power mix.The LFPP concept is designed for installation in areas where energy demand is rapidly increasing, but onshore infrastructure is not feasible or commercially viable. Instead, the LNG would be offloaded from a carrier, stored onboard in two cylindrical (IMO type C) tanks, and then regasified for power generation and exported to the onshore grid.

Hapag Lloyd to Test XVELA

Hapag-Lloyd has announced it has signed a cooperation agreement with XVELA’s Oakland based partner company XVELA to pilot test the new XVELA platform. With Cargotec in the process of acquiring the CAPSTAN stowage planning software used by Hapag-Lloyd, Cargotec company XVELA has signed up the German carrier to a pilot project. Hapag-Lloyd is the first ocean carrier to sign on for the pilot program of XVELA’s next-generation solution, underscoring the company’s long-standing commitment to innovation. The XVELA platform allows carriers and terminals to work together to improve visibility and increase efficiency throughout the vessel stowage planning and execution process.

Wärtsilä Integrated Solutions for Maersk's AHTS Vessels

A new series of six Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels to be built at the Kleven Verft AS in Norway for the Danish based Maersk Supply Service A/S - part of the A. P. Møller-Mærsk Group, will feature fully integrated solutions from Wärtsilä. There is an option for an additional four vessels within this series. The contract with Wärtsilä was signed in November. The 95 metre long vessels will be utilised in deep water offshore oilfield operations, with reliability, safety, and uptime specified as being priority requirements. Wärtsilä's responsibility encompasses the complete power generation solution, electrical distribution and drives system, vessel automation system and propulsion system.
