Hawaii-based Pasha Hawaii announced it has taken delivery of the second of two new ‘Ohana Class, 774-foot liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered containerships built at the Keppel AmFELS shipyard in Brownsville, Texas.The new vessel, Janet Marie, joins Pasha Hawaii’s fleet serving the Hawaii/U.S. mainland trade lane, following the company’s first ‘Ohana Class vessel, George III, which entered service on August 17, 2022.Operating on LNG from day one, the new Jones Act vessel surpasses the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 2030 emission standards for ocean vessels.

Operating on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from day one in service, the MV George III, the first of Pasha Group’s two new ‘Ohana Class’, Jones Act-qualified containerships, features a state-of-the-art engine, an optimized hull form, and an underwater propulsion system with a high-efficiency rudder and propeller. George III is the first LNG-powered vessel to fuel on the West Coast and the first to serve Hawaii. The 774-ft. Jones Act vessel surpasses the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 2030 emission standards for ocean vessels.

Honolulu-based Hawaii Stevedores, Inc. has received confirmation from Hawaii State Department of Transportation (HDOT) that, together with the state, Hawaii Stevedores will continue the joint development of the Kapalama Container Terminal (KCT). The state has confirmed its commitment for Hawaii Stevedores to lease the new 84-acre, state-of-the-art KCT, which will be constructed at the former Kapalama Military Reserve Terminal at Sand Island in Honolulu, as part of the state’s $448 million harbors modernization plan. “KCT is a shining example of a public/private investment partnership,” said George Pasha, IV, President and CEO, The Pasha Group, which owns Hawaii Stevedores.

Keppel AmFELS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) in the United States (US), has secured a contract worth more than US$400m from Honolulu-based Pasha Hawaii for the construction of two Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) fueled containerships. The dual fuel LNG vessels will be built to Keppel's proprietary design with delivery of the first vessel expected in 1Q 2020, and the second vessel in 3Q 2020. The new U.S. Jones Act vessels will carry 2,525 TEUs, including a fully laden capacity of 500 45-foot containers, 400 refrigerated containers, and 300 40-foot dry containers, with a sailing speed of 23.0 knots. Delivery of the first vessel is expected 1Q 2020, with delivery of the second vessel in 3Q 2020.

VT Halter Marine, Inc., a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), announced it has delivered a combination container and roll-on/roll-off car truck carrier (ConRo), MV Marjorie C, to Pasha Hawaii. The MV Marjorie C is the second U.S. Flag, Jones Act-qualified vessel built for Honolulu-based Pasha Hawaii and will join her sister ship, the MV Jean Anne, providing additional service to Hawaii via the Hawaii/Mainland trade lane. Honolulu-based Pasha Hawaii announced the signing of a contract with VT Halter Marine, Pascagoula, MS, for the construction of a ship to enter the Hawaii/Mainland trade lane. The ship’s base price is $144m and is estimated to deliver in the fall of 2013. Pasha Hawaii is currently negotiating with several sources for financing. The new ship represents the second vessel to join Pasha Hawaii’s fleet, and will allow the company to provide weekly service between the West Coast and Hawaii. The company also signed an option agreement for the construction of a third vessel with a base price of $137m. This will be the second Roll-On/Roll-Off Car Truck Carrier built by VT Halter for Pasha Hawaii based on a proven design by the Uljanik Shipyard, Croatia.

VT Halter Marine Inc., has signed a contract with Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines, valued at approximately $47 million, to complete the construction of their car carrier, Jean Anne. VT Halter Marine expects to complete and deliver the vessel in the fourth quarter of 2004. The vessel is the first Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) to be built in the United States. Constructed for the Jones Act trade, it will operate between U.S. Hawaii. Measuring 579 ft. overall, with a beam of 102 ft. Ft., the 13,000 deadweight ton PCTC has the capacity to transport more than 4,000 automobiles. Propulsion will be provided by a single propeller driven by a slow-speed diesel engine.
