STG Ship Efficiency International Conference

Scheduled for September 23-24, 2013 in Hamburg, the fourth STG Ship Efficiency conference will focus on one of the key issues for future shipping. The German Society for Maritime Technology, STG, launched this series of conferences to provide a platform for maritime leaders to exchange interdisciplinary ideas and expertise on questions related to ship efficiency. How to improve the efficiency of shipping operations. How to increase a ship’s profitability. How to make shipping more environmentally friendly.

German Society for Maritime Technology Joins CEMT

The German Society for Maritime Technology (STG) has become a member of CEMT, the Confederation of European Maritime Technology Societies. president Dr. Hermann J. Klein and STG Secretary General Iwer Asmussen were welcomed by CEMT's nine member institutions from the UK, Poland, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy. The board meeting took place in Hamburg. CEMT is a confederation of national professional institutions. Ship Efficiency? No Easy Answers

"Ship efficiency is a question of perspective", this is one conclusion of the two-day expert conference of the German Society for Maritime Technology on "How to make ships more efficient?". More than 150 participants from all over the world attended the first international conference on ship efficiency in Hamburg. Increasing fuel prices and strong environmental concerns have initiated the high ranking forum of naval architects, ship engineers, ship owners, ship builders, maritime institutions and suppliers, classification societies, financial analysts investors, academics and media representatives. Participants came from Australia, Denmark, Indonesia, Italy, Iran, Norway, Sweden Finland, Greece, Austria, Switzerland, UK, India, Korea and the US.

STG E-Board Decides on Lecture Program

In the course of 2006, the German Society for Maritime Technology (STG) will be concentrating on the topic of shipping and environmental protection. At its board meeting, which was held at the head office of Germanischer Lloyd, the new Executive Board and Board Council of STG decided to put the thematic focus on current topics of environmental policy, such as the technical requirements affecting new regulations for an ecological recycling of ships. Besides the subject area of maritime environmental protection, the STG will continue to give its attention to the technical design aspects concerning the operational reliability of ships.
