GES and Provaris Team Up for New Hydrogen Import Facility at Port of Rotterdam

Global Energy Storage (GES) and Provaris Energy have entered a collaboration agreement to develop a gaseous hydrogen import facility at the GES terminal in Rotterdam.Under the collaboration, GES and Provaris will complete a comprehensive prefeasibility study to demonstrate the technical and economic viability of berthing and unloading of Provarisā€™ H2Neo compressed hydrogen carriers.Activities will also include the joint marketing of the proposed facility where Provaris will beā€¦

GES Closes Rotterdam Terminal Deal

Global Energy Storage (GES) announced it has closed the transaction to acquire part of the Stargate Terminal from Gunvor Group in Europoort, Port of Rotterdam.GES, which signed a binding agreement to take over the site in November 2021, now owns four Class 1 product tanks totaling over 212 thousand cubic meters with long-term off-take from Gunvor. In addition, GES has acquired the rights to develop approximately 20 hectares of vacant land. Furthermore, it is pursuing expansion projects to support the Energy Transitionā€¦

Gunvor Sells Its Rotterdam Oil Terminal to GES

Global Energy Storage, a new company that aims to store products such as hydrogen and biofuels, said on Thursday it is buying assets in Rotterdam from commodities firm Gunvor Group and will redevelop 20 hectares (49 acres) of land in the port for its operations.Financial details of the purchase, which includes part of Gunvor's Stargate Oil Terminal, were not disclosed.The company's plan is to "take an existing oil terminal and develop it into a state-of-the-art low-carbon products terminalā€¦

BW Offshore Orders VIKING Lifeboats for Australia-bound FPSO

Offshore safety equipment provider VIKING has said it has won a contract with FPSO supplier BW Offshore to deliver has selected VIKING Norsafe free-fall lifeboats, daughter craft, and davits for a large FPSO project which will operate off northern Australia.While VIKING did not share the exact name of the FPSO project, this is most likely the Barossa FPSO BW Offshore is building for deployment at Santos' Barossa project.The safety equipment provider said that the primary means of evacuation from the FPSO will be three VIKING Norsafe GES-50 Mk.

Njord A Lifeboats Feature Electric Propulsion

VIKING has secured a contract from Kværner AS to deliver three VIKING Norsafe E-GES 52 electric free-fall lifeboats and compatible davits, in a significant advance for electric propulsion. The contract, part of the upgrade of Equinorā€™s Njord A platform in the Norwegian Sea, initially called for diesel-powered lifeboats but has been amended to specify VIKING Norsafe E-GES 52 units based on performance, assured availability and lower maintenance requirements.The electric lifeboat is powered by 3x25kWh batteries contained in robustā€¦

Pukyong National University (PKNU) has chosen GEā€™s Power Conversion business to provide the SeaStream Dynamic Positioning (DP) system for their training vessel for fisheries industry training.GEā€™s SeaStream DP will enable the ship to perform operations ā€“ for example controlling horizontal movement or holding position against harsh wind and in choppy waters ā€“ with stability, safety and precision for a long time.ā€œWe have more than six decades of onboard vessel training experience and are now adding a 14th vessel to the fleet.

French engineering services provider Doris Engineering has been awarded an advisor contract by the Senegalese ministry of petroleum and energies for the development of oil & gas projects offshore Senegal.This two-year mission consists in reviewing the optimization and the robustness of the field development performed on these projects to be in line with the Ministry expectations. Ship Recycling Transparency Initiative Launched

Industry leaders and non-profit the Sustainable Shipping Initiative announced the launch of the Ship Recycling Transparency Initiativeā€™s (SRTI) online platform - a tool for sharing information on ship recycling to drive responsible practice.According to a press release, the platform comes nine months after a group of shipping companies first announced their collective effort to use the market-drivers that transparency brings to make responsible ship recycling the norm. Demanding transparency holds the shipping industry to account, raising the bar for current practice as well as creating fair competition among ship-owners.In 2017, 835 ships were recycled out of a world fleet of 50,000.

Sizing Up the Market, Scaling Solutions to Size

In October of 2014, news of Oceaneeringā€™s purchase of GE Transportationā€™s newest marine engine offering was making waves. These engines ā€“ ones which meet EPA Tier 4i and IMO Tier III Emissions standards ā€“ without the need for a Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR) exhaust gas after-treatment, had workboat operators everywhere looking at new possibilities. Before that, Harvey Gulf International Marine also entered into a contract to construct a new Multipurpose Field Support Vessel (MPFSV) at Eastern Shipbuilding, this one also powered by GEā€™s Tier 4 compliant, EGR main engines. Thatā€™s important because Harvey Gulf, the recognized North American leader in rolling out LNG and dual fuel propulsion vessels, in this case, selected a pure diesel engine.

Norsafe Lifeboat Systems Ordered for Njord A Platform

Norsafe has received orders from Kværner relating to the delivery of new lifeboat systems to Statoilā€™s Njord A platform. Norsafe will supply three lifeboat systems of its largest freefall lifeboat, the GES 52, with compatible davits. The lifeboat systems are built according to SOLAS and DNV-OS-E406, and although the products were developed just a few years ago, they have already been delivered to many installations worldwide. The contract is worth over 35 million Norwegian kroner and will be delivered in 2018 and 2019.

Kalmar's First Order for Empty Container Handlers

Kalmar received an order from the Port of Vienna's WienCont Container Terminal for three new twin lift capability empty container handlers. Delivery and start-up is set for April 2017. The contract marks the first order of equipment from Kalmar's DCG80-100 empty container handler range, which was launched in Munich on 9 November. The new range offers customers the best lifetime value currently available on the market with better performance, greater reliability, less downtime and lower running costs for the machine. This order continues the terminal's history of choosing Kalmar's dependable products and high service availability. WienCont Container Terminal Ges.m.b.H., a subsidiary of the Port of Vienna, is a trimodal terminal serving rail, road and inland waterways.

Great Eastern Shipping Q2 Profit Falls About 24 Pct

Great Eastern Shipping  (GES) Company posted a 23.9 per cent decline in consolidated net profit at Rs 268.7 crore ($40 million) for the second quarter ended September 30, 2016, reports PTI. The company had posted a consolidated net profit after tax of Rs 353.5 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal, Great Eastern Shipping said in a BSE filing. GE Shipping took a delivery of a Secondhand Capesize Dry Bulk Carrier (Year built: 2011) named ā€œJag Anandā€ of DWT 179250 MT on July 14, 2016. It took delivery of a newly built Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier named ā€œJag Aalokā€ of DWT 82023 MT on July 29, 2016. GES also took delivery of a Medium Range Product Tanker named ā€œJag Poojaā€ (Year built: 2005) of DWT 48539 MT on August 10ā€¦

Norsafe Exhibiting Record Breaking Lifeboats at ONS

Norsafe, a leader in marine life-saving equipment, will be showing its world record breaking freefall lifeboat at the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) show in Stavanger, August 29, to September 1, 2016. The GES 50 MKIII broke the world record on June 25, 2015 when the 70 passenger model was dropped from 40 meters with ten people on board. Since then the same lifeboat has been dropped several more times from this height, demonstrating the quality of design and workmanship by Norsafeā€™ dedicated and skilled workforce.

Norsafe Showing Comprehensive range at Posidonia

Norsafe will be showing a comprehensive range of its renowned safety craft at Posidonia, June 6 to 10th 2016 at stand 420, hall 3. Exhibiting in partnership with its Greek agent, Intra Mare, the Norwegian based manufacturer together with its Greek subsidiary Norsafe Watercraft Hellas will be showing a mix of rescue boats, conventional lifeboats and smaller free-fall models. Due to market requests, Norsafe has undertaken extensive work to improve release gear for lifeboats which has resulted in the newly updated TOR MKII on-load release hook. The new design overcomes premature release issues and the highly visible yellow padlock, which can be seen on both sides of the hook, clearly indicates that the hook is set and release cables are correctly located.

Norsafe to Debut New Lifeboats at KORMARINE

Norsafe, a developer of marine lifesaving equipment, will bring crew safety into focus at KORMARINE in Busan, Korea, on October 20-23, launching two new lifeboats for the shipping and offshore markets.
