Elakha: The Repowering of OSU's Valued Research Vessel

Ocean science is in high demand by scientists studying ocean acidification, wave energy, seabed composition, changing water temperatures, fish populations and dozens of other research projects. The Oregon State University (OSU) has a proud history in the field. The wide variety of research project require a variety of vessels.One boat that has made large contributions to research is the 54 by 16.5-foot Elakha which was built in 2001 at Rozema Boat Works of Mount Vernon Washington.

Armstrong Delivers 45' Pilot Boat to Alaska

Port Angeles, Wash. boatbuilder Armstrong Marine USA said it recently delivered the 45’8” by 16’ semi-displacement catamaran, Serac, to the National Park Service (NPS) for use in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, in Alaska.NPS selected Armstrong Marine’s proposal to build the Jutson Marine design in a competitive solicitation process last year. Trelleborg Ships its 600th LNG Ship Shore Link

Trelleborg’s marine systems operation has passed a milestone with the shipment of its 600th SeaTechnik Ship Shore Link (SSL) system for the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Industry. The SeaTechnik SMART SSL system will be installed on a 174,000m3 LNG Carrier (Hull number 2411), being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) at its Okpo ship yard, Goeje Island, South Korea, for Teekay shipping Limited. Glendinning Named SVP, Service Division, Alfa Laval

Ross Glendinning was appointed Senior Vice President, Service Division of Alfa Laval Inc. in January 2016. Glendinning is charged with driving consistent profitable growth, and developing new sales opportunities for the service business of Alfa Laval in the U.S. His responsibilities include leading parts sales, reconditioning services, field services and technical support activities. Glendinning joined Alfa Laval in 1982 as Marine Engineer for the company’s military products group.

Teekay Veteran Glendinning to Retire

Long-time Teekay leader David Glendinning, president of Teekay Gas Services, will retire December 17, 2015, after more than 28 years at Teekay. Stepping up to replace Glendinning is Mark Kremin, currently vice president in the same division, Teekay Corporation announced today. Kremin recently took over reporting line accountability for the Teekay gas operations team, and will complete the full handover of leadership accountabilities on Glendinning's retirement date. Glendinning joined Teekay in 1987 and has since held a number of senior positions, including Vice President, Marine and Commercial Operations from 1995 until his promotion to Senior Vice President, Customer Relations and Marine Project Development in 1999.

Glendinning Marine and Yacht Controller Form Partnership

Glendinning Marine Products and Yacht Controller LLC have formed a strategic partnership to offer Glendinning’s Complete Controls Electronic Engine Control system with Yacht Controller’s wireless remote yacht command system. Glendinning vice president David Wollard made the announcement. Glendinning’s Complete Controls system offers an attractive control head, complete feature set, easy “plug and play” installation and an optional automatic backup control capability. Yacht Controller’s wireless remote allows a vessel’s captain to control the yacht’s gears, bow and stern thrusters and anchor from anywhere on board, eliminating all sightline problems.
