Lee Named GNS Chief Executive

Maritime services group Global Navigation Solutions (GNS) has appointed Kent Lee as Chief Executive Officer with effect from January 15,  2020. Kent’s appointment follows the acquisition of GNS by the Cornes Group in November 2019. He succeeds Paul Stanley, who led GNS from 2014 until its acquisition by Cornes.During the last 25 years, Kent has held a number of senior executive positions in the information technology industry with wide international exposure. New GNS Voyager Planning Station Ready

GNS: Pricing Transparency in Navigation Market

Helikon Expands Use of GNS Voyager

Maritime services group Global Navigation Solutions (GNS) announced that London-based bulk carrier operator Helikon Shipping Enterprises has expanded its use of its VOYAGER software solution across its fleet to take advantage of VOYAGER’s advanced route planning and optimization tools. Helikon, a customer of GNS for more than a decade, has extended its contract to make use of the navigational efficiency tools available within the VOYAGER solution. In addition to VOYAGER’s inventory management, compliance management and chart updating functionality, the fleet is now also using A2BviaC digital distance tables and Meteo Group’s SPOS weather routing technology, all of which is enabling Helikon to improve route planning and achieve greater fuel efficiencies.

E.R. Schiffahrt Chooses GNS ENCs Bundle

Maritime services group Global Navigation Solutions (GNS) has agreed terms with E.R. Schiffahrt, a Hamburg-based ship management company with activities in container and bulk segments, to supply Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) and the GNS navigation management software, Voyager. GNS is supplying ENCs and Voyager to the entire E.R. Schiffahrt fleet of 98 vessels at one fixed annual price, enabling the E.R. Schiffahrt ship management team to manage their annual ENC purchasing via a single purchase order and invoice. GNS said it used detailed analysis of each individual vessel’s trading pattern and chart usage to calculate the annual fixed price, an approach that enables E.R. Hamburg Sud Chooses Voyager

Global Navigation Solutions (‘GNS’), the maritime services group, has announced that its long-term customer Hamburg Sud will be installing Voyager Planning Station (‘VPS’) throughout its group.   This decision by Hamburg Sud was influenced by the unique range of features in the latest version of Voyager. The main reason for choosing Voyager was the link to AWT weather software as well as the modern tablet style of the Voyager user interface including a route planning application, which Hamburg Sud intend to use for voyage planning purposes.

GNS Expands its Voyager Suite

Maritime services group Global Navigation Solutions (GNS) will unveil its new Voyager suite of products that for the first time connects ship and shore through one e-navigation solution. Scheduled to debut at events in London, Singapore and Hamburg on June 17, 18 and 19, GNS’s new web-based Voyager Management Service now enables shore-based ship managers to check that vessels are always carrying required charts and publications, in either digital or paper format, and that all relevant corrections have been received onboard and applied, thereby helping prevent vessels from incurring penalties from chart-related issues arising with port-state control inspections.

Tankers Switch to Digital Navigation

In July 2015 international regulation requires all tankers to be compliant with IMO rules for the use of ECDIS and ENCs. GNS Announces Senior Appointments

Maritime navigation services group Global Navigation Solutions (GNS) announced the appointments of Phil Stothard as Chief Information Officer and Kieron Abernethy as Chief Revenue Officer. Both assume their roles with immediate effect. Phil Stothard joins GNS from banking and payment solutions provider ACI. Phil has over 25 years’ experience of IT development, leading teams and delivering global solutions for organizations such as HSBC and Accenture. Phil has particular expertise in data and information systems and has a track record of delivering value to internal and external clients from the solutions he has designed and delivered.

Voyager Navigation Software for German Research Vessel

Global Navigation Solutions (GNS) reported that operators Briese Schiffahrt has chosen to install its Voyager navigation software on Germany’s newest research vessel, RV Sonne.    Sonne will carry the GNS Voyager Package 3, which provides the crew with route planning capability, inventory management and automatic updating of paper and digital charts, as well as ordering and cataloguing, together with a free AVCS and Admiralty Information Overlay (AIO) viewer.   Sonne was launched by Chancellor Merkel on July 11, 2014 and replaces a vessel of the same name, which was in service for 44 years.

Global Navigation Solutions Names New CEO

Global Navigation Solutions (GNS), the maritime services group, has appointed Paul Stanley as Chief Executive with effect from January 5, 2015.    During the last fifteen years, Paul has held a number of senior executive positions in the business information and software sectors, both within the U.K. and internationally. In 1999 he founded Moneybox Plc and floated the company on AIM. From 2006 to 2011 he held several senior positions at First Data Corporation. His most recent role was as CEO of Retail Decisions, a specialist in fraud mitigation software and a global leader in its field, which has recently been sold to ACI Worldwide.    Stanley takes over for Mike Robinson who stepped down as CEO in December 2014.

GNS Launches Free E-Navigation Solutions

AtoBviaC announced that its BP Shipping Marine Distance Tables are now incorporated into the Voyager Planning Station solution. From this month, bridge personnel can take advantage of the accuracy and quality of AtoBviaC’s distance tables, route planning, intelligent data management and quality of compliance provided by Global Navigation Solutions’ Voyager Planning Station, the company said.
