BSM Adds Simulators at Cyprus Training Center

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has invested in a Full Mission Bridge and an Engine Room simulator for its training center in Limassol, Cyprus, allowing BSM to offer training for the career development of its own officers, as well as external training for participants in the region. Training will include STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) courses as well as tailor-made customer courses to the advanced level required for Deck and Engineer officers.

Sperry Navigation Systems for 7 Bulk Carriers

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a contract by Peter Dohle Schiffahrts-KG to supply the Integrated Bridge Systems, including navigation, voyage data recorders and radio systems, to seven new bulk carrier ships. Northrop Grumman's Sperry Marine business unit will supply the equipment to Jiangsu Hantong Shipyard in Nantong, Jiangsu, China. Sea School Unveils New NAUTIS Bridge Simulator

Sea School Mobile, part of Ocean and Coastwise Educational Services Inc. family,  located in Bayou La Batre, Ala. has just acquired a NAUTIS  Full Mission Bridge Simulator and Instructor Station to enhance the training curriculum for its maritime students. The NAUTIS simulator is being installed by VSTEP and its U.S partner, Annapolis Simulation. Sea School’s new DNV Class B certified NAUTIS Full-Mission Bridge Simulator features a 180° external view angle, which exceeds the minimum 120° exterior view angle required for DNV Class B simulators.

The German navigation system manufacturer Raytheon Anschütz has been awarded the contract for the supply of advanced Integrated Navigations Systems of their Synapsis Bridge Control series to new Heavy Lift Carriers for Dutch company Jumbo Shipping. The demanding new vessels are being built at Brodosplit shipyard in Split, Croatia. South Boats Special Projects Ltd. commissioned another Offshore Wind Farm Service Vessel for Offshore Wind Power Marine Services Ltd. of Conwy, North Wales for a long term contract with Dong Energy on Gunfleet Sands Offshore Wind Farm. ABS Approves Anyboat as External Specialist

Anyboat Marine Electronics has received ABS certification as a radio technician external specialist to conduct GMDSS radio station surveys, for ABS classed vessels. ABS approval included a review of Anyboat's Quality Assurance System, an audit of their facilities and a practical demonstration of services.

Anyboat Marine Electronics has received ABS certification as a radio technician external specialist to conduct GMDSS radio station surveys, for ABS classed vessels. ABS approval included a review of Anyboat's Quality Assurance System, an audit of their facilities and a practical demonstration of services. Clipper Navigation, Inc. and John J. McMullen Associates have agreed to combine their operations to provide comprehensive ferry consulting services focused on high-speed ferries for North American markets. The joint venture, operating under the Clipper-McMullen banner, will provide a range of services from initial operating concepts through vessel selection and acquisition.

PMI Offers FCC Prep Course for GMDSS

Gregg Trunnell, Director of the Pacific Maritime Institute (PMI), announced its new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) three-day license preparation course for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems (GMDSS) Radio Operators license. The National GMDSS Task Force has recently stated that fishing vessels over 300 tons are considered SOLAS vessels and require GMDSS equipment, however, GMDSS mandated training by STCW is not required. Additionally, the FCC has required that all fishing vessels with designated GMDSS equipment must have at least two individuals onboard with GMDSS licenses when operating in U.S. coastal waters.

Bollinger Delivers Supply Boat to Seacor

Bollinger Shipyards Lockport, La., has delivered the Seacor Madison, the first of three 207-ft., 4,750 bhp supply boats to Seacor Marine, Inc., Houston, Tex. It will be followed by two others of Seacor's new President Class offshore support vessels (OSV), Seacor Washington and Seacor Jefferson. The boats are part of Bollinger's new 220 Class OSVs that are designed to provide more cargo capacities, more versatility, more options and lower operating costs than larger vessels. New Workboat Management System Introduced

A system touted as the first fully integrated workboat management system - dubbed GlobeOffshore - will be unveiled by Globe Wireless at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans, to be held Dec. 1-3. GlobeOffshore records vital data onboard the vessel and provides this data in a timely and accurate manner to users onshore. The system allows shoreside users to receive fleet reports, track vessels, and improve incident response time by making all appropriate information automatically available in one place. The system automates the traditional logbook. Vessel data is entered into the GlobeOffshore electronic log, which runs on a Windows-based personal computer aboard the vessel.
