Liebherr Bolsters Its Australia Maritime Business

Liebherr Maritime said it will establish full service, spares and sales activities in Australia, New Zealand and the Oceania region to create better support for maritime customers using factory trained and locally recruited engineers. Liebherr Offshore Cranes Accessing New Markets

Liebherr’s maritime manufacturing plant in Rostock has been awarded the contract to supply the heavy-lift crane for the Orion, a new wind farm installation and platform decommissioning vessel ordered by DEME from COSCO (QiDong) Offshore, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry. The crane is rated at 3,000 metric tons at more than 50 meters, with a lifting height in excess of 170 meters and a designation of HLC (Heavy-Lift Crane) 295000. Delivery will be spring 2019. Liebherr Offshore Crane on “Giant 7”

The Liebherr offshore crane division installed a board offshore crane, type BOS 35000 on the heavy lift barge “Giant 7”. The state of the art offshore crane will be used for wind plant installation in the Baltic Sea region. The entire project starting from design through manufacturing to final assembly and testing has been conducted in the company’s production site in Rostock, northern Germany. The crane was especially developed for the use on the “Giant 7”, a heavy lift barge. On arrival at the Liebherr Rostock facility in January, the crane installation started immediately. The biggest challenge when assembling heavy lift giants like the BOS 35000 is the handling of oversized parts. The lattice boom is 78 meters long. Its weight amounts more than 250 tonnes.

Liebherr Sells Knuckle Boom Cranes to China

Liebherr offshore crane division has recently signed a contract with long-time partner DALIAN SHIPYARD (DSIC Offshore) for two state-of-the-art ram luffing knuckle boom cranes of the type RL-K 4200-100 LIT to be delivered for the new high-level semi-submersible BT 4000. "We have already successfully delivered around 40 machines to DSIC to date, but this contract marks a new milestone for us at the Chinese offshore market," informs Gordon Clark, Sales Director of the Liebherr offshore crane division.

Townsville Opts for a Liebherr LHM 420

Australian-based Northern Stevedoring Services (NSS) has placed an order for a Liebherr mobile harbor crane, type LHM 420, to operate on Berth 3 and 4 in the Port of Townsville, Queensland. The operations of the stevedoring company span all of regional Queensland’s major port facilities, providing the full range of stevedoring and logistics solutions. Liebherr Boosts Middle East Cargo Handling

Recent orders for Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes (LHM) from the Middle East include two LHMs and the first LiSIM LHM550 unit for the region, paving the way for state-of-the-art crane operator training. Additionally, one Liebherr Reachstacker has been delivered to the region. Traditionally, the Middle East/India/Africa region (MIA) has represented a very important market for Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes (LHM). In 2013 alone, Liebherr counted more than 40 mobile harbor crane sales. The company has now delivered well over 300 LHMs to MIA in total.
