PBES Inks Manufacturing Deal with Elpro

PBES and Elpro Solutions AS announced that they have entered a manufacturing agreement for PBES battery systems. WWL Extends Service to South Africa & Australia

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) has started the year by introducing a new service departing Santander, Spain twice a month for South Africa and on to Australia. The enhanced product which includes additional capacity and extended port coverage reflects WWL’s ongoing work to extend its services to meet customers’ needs. “WWL is excited to support manufacturer needs for ocean transportation from Spain to South Africa and Oceania”, says Ramon Oliete, Head of Iberia Branch for WWL. “In 2013, a total of 1.9 million cars were produced in Spain.

Wärtsilä Opens Factory Extension

Wärtsilä opened an extension to its state-of-the-art production plant in Wuxi, China. Wärtsilä's investment to the Wuxi factory, which manufactures thrusters as well as seals and bearing products for all kinds and sizes of marine vessels, totals 20.8 million euros during 2005-2007. The initial phase of the Wuxi factory represented an investment of 6.6 million euros, which was announced in June 2005. The new extension involves a further investment of 14.2 million euros this year.

CAD/CAM/CAE programs are invaluable assets to the designer, builder and operator of vessels of all sizes and dimensions. Not only do advanced programs allow for the creation of the an efficient and cost effective ship structure and outfitting, they provide for enhanced manufacturing practices and techniques, and increasingly help devise a life-cycle maintenance and care plan which can tack profitable years onto a vessel's life.
