New Fast Response Cutter Honors Emlen Tunnell, Coast Guard Hero, NFL Great

Bollinger Shipyards delivered the USCGC Emlen Tunnell to the U.S. Coast Guard in Key West, Fla. It is the 168th vessel Bollinger has delivered to the USCG in 35 years and the 45th Fast Response Cutter (FRC) delivered under the current program.Named to honor Coast Guard hero and NFL great Emlen Tunnell, the cutter is the fourth of six FRCs to be home-ported in Manama, Bahrain, which will replace an aging 110-ft. Messer's CEO Norville Announces Retirement

Gary Norville started at Messer Cuttings Systems Inc. in September 1980 selling and installing cutting machines. Norville worked in many different departments during his career with Messer, gaining vast knowledge of the company while working his way up the corporate ladder, eventually earning the position of President and CEO in 2007. Green Bay Embraces Namesake Ship

Citizens of “Titletown” rolled out the red carpet for their city’s namesake ship, Pre-commissioning Unit (PCU) Green Bay (LPD 20), during several civic ceremonies June 25. Green Bay’s prospective commanding officer Cmdr. Calvin Slocumb and his planned relief, Cmdr. Joseph Olson traveled to Green Bay to strengthen the ship’s already strong ties to the community. Green Bay Mayor James J. Schmitt hosted the officers at the annual Kids Day Festival at Fisk Park. Green Bay (LPD 20) Christening Slated for July 15

On Saturday July 15, Gen. Robert Magnus, assistant commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, will give the principal address at the christening of Green Bay (LPD 20), an amphibious transport dock ship being built by Northrop Grumman Corporation. The ceremony will be held at the company's New Orleans Operations beginning at 10 a.m. The name Green Bay honors the city of Green Bay, Wis. One of the oldest settlements in the country, Green Bay has been a home to the record-making football team, the Green Bay Packers, since 1919. Green Bay (LPD 20) is the fourth ship in the San Antonio (LPD 17)-class of amphibious transport dock ships being built for the U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps by Northrop Grumman.
