Nine Organisations Commit to Book and Claim Systems

Nine companies across the maritime value chain have issued a joint statement expressing their commitment to developing and implementing robust book and claim chain of custody systems to accelerate the early phases of shipping’s decarbonisation. K+N to be CO2 Neutral for Shipments

Switzerland-based global transport and logistics company Kuehne + Nagel International AG has launched a Net Zero Carbon program that will aim to reduce the environmental impact of supply chains.In addition to the continuous reduction of its own CO2 emissions, the company now offers its customers solutions for reducing the CO2 footprint of their supply chain. With the use of big data and new digital platforms, the selection of transport routes and modes can be optimized from a CO2 perspective.Kuehne + Nagel has also decided to proactively address the CO2 footprint of the transportation services performed by its suppliers – airlines, shipping lines and haulage companies. Kuehne + Nagel targets comprehensive CO2 neutralization (Scope 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol – GHG) by 2030.

OOCL Expands GHG Reporting and Verification Scope

Swiss Climate EcoCare is the first native German Company to enter a strategic agreement with the Liberian Registry with regards to the emissions guidelines, referring to EU-MRV and IMO DCS. Swiss Climate is a longtime expert in emission related topics. For more than 10 years, Swiss Climate has provided consultancy services to companies and organisations in setting up holistic climate strategies and sustainability concepts. In 2010, the company established its first so called “carbon footprint” for a cargo vessel. Based on ISO 14064 and greenhouse gas protocol, it was already fulfilling the EU and Global-MRV regulation requirements at that time.

WWL Cuts Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 32%

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL), a global shipping and logistics company, managed to cut its green house gas emissions by 32% last year. The company also cut its sulphur dioxide emissions (SO2) emissions by 135,000 tonnes in a nine year period from 2000 to 2009, an amount nearly equal to all the SO2 emissions from road vehicles in the United States for an entire year*. “Even in times of global economic crisis, we must continue to build value for our customers,” declared Arild B.
