CEACT Allows Operators to REACT

How updated electronic navigation practices improve safety and efficiency – and optimize cargo movement – on US inland waterways. It was a cold winter night. Heavy gusts and snow did not allow safe navigation and forced the ships on the upper Mississippi to secure alongside the few remaining jetties. Safety is the key issue for all river transport companies but at the same time efficiency and timely delivery of valuable goods is of utmost importance. It was 1999 and an American navigation pioneer – Greg Dunkle – had realized the potential of electronic chart systems.

A New Version of CEACT River Navigation Software

SevenCs and CEACT Information Systems Inc. announce the latest development of their inland navigation system CEACT. The new version includes two new major functionalities which will allow operating the vessel safer and more efficiently. The new version will be available November 2012. Multiple CPA enables the user to track several AIS targets simultaneously. The operator can toggle between the most relevant targets without re-acquiring. Dangerous targets don’t get lost and the situational awareness is significantly improved. The second functionality does not only improve safety, but also allows the user to save fuel. The Overtaking Calculation shows nicely and easily to understand how long overtaking a vessel will take and mark a position in the chart where it will be completed.
