Caley Develops Deepwater Lowering System for Gorgon Project
Handling systems specialist, Caley Ocean Systems has been awarded a contract by Subsea 7 to design, manufacture and supply a deepwater lowering system (DLS). The DLS will initially be deployed by Subsea 7 on the Chevron-operated Gorgon project, located off the northwest coast of Western Australia, to lower subsea structures weighing up to 950Te in water depths in excess of 1,300m. The DLS comprises two double drum traction and storage winches and fully redundant controls, all mounted on an integrated grillage structure for rapid mobilization onto the pipelay and heavy lift vessel Sapura 3000.
Caley Upgrades Saipem Reel Carousel
Offshore handling systems specialist, Caley Ocean Systems completed the refurbishment and upgrade of a 2,500-ton, 25-meter diameter reel carousel for Italian offshore contractor Saipem. The reel carousel will be used to transport umbilicals and flowlines from Norway to China on Big Lift heavy lift vessel Happy Rover, for the deepwater Liwan 3-1 field gas project in the South China Sea. Originally supplied over 15 years ago by Caley, the carousel has been extensively used by Saipem on a wide range of projects.
Caley Winch and A-frame Systems for HHI Oceanographic RV
Offshore handling systems specialist, Caley Ocean Systems has been awarded a contract to supply oceanographic winches and A-frame systems to Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for a new oceanographic research vessel. The state-of-the-art, ocean-going, vessel is capable of surveying to the full ocean depth (10,000m), using advanced exploration capabilities. Caley is providing bespoke oceanographic winches designed to handle high tension, heavy loads, featuring 'SMART' control systems for fully active heave compensation, and variable frequency drives.
