New Briese Vessels Sport Schottel Propulsion

Briese Group contracted Groot Ship Design to deliver the design and basic engineering package for four multi-purpose vessels. Schottel performed enhanced CFD investigations to determine the optimal aftship configuration incorporating nozzle support and streamline body between rudder and hull. As a result, a streamlined CPP installation will enable a power reduction of 3.7 percent. The vessels feature an open and closed top design for variable cargo purposes. GL Completes EEDI Certification

Carisbrooke Shipping's "Vectis Falcon"

Germanischer Lloyd (GL) presented Carisbrooke Shipping with energy efficiency design index (EEDI) certificates for four low emission dry cargo vessels. Built by Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, the four 8500 DWT sister vessels, the Vectis Eagle, Falcon, Harrier and Osprey incorporate a number of innovative features, including the distinctive Groot Cross-Bow(r). The four vessels, which have been built to Finnish Swedish Iceclass 1A, have been designed and constructed to optimize energy efficiency in almost every facet of operation.

Dutch Ship Designers Get Unusual Malaysian Contract

Groot Ship Design's wins contract for two types of special livestock carrying ships from Malaysian company PBHH (Pembangunan Buka Jijau Holdings Sdn. The contract is for the design and delivery of two types of livestock carriers. Of each type the Korean shipyard, Sundong will build 5 vessels for PBHH/BH Livestock. Sungdong requested Groot Ship Design to deliver the design for each type because of its knowledge and experience in livestock carriers and its innovating bow design – the Groot Cross-Bow©.

Groot Ship Design Signs Contract with Sundong

On May 15, 2012 at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) a unique contract was signed between Groot Ship Design from Leek (the Netherlands), Sundong shipyard (Korea) and owner PBHH/BH livestock Vessel SDN BHD (Malaysia) for the design and delivery of two types of livestock carriers. Of each type the Korean yard will build 5 vessels for PBHH/BH Livestock. Sungdong requested Groot Ship Design to deliver the design for each type because of the knowledge and experience in livestock carriers and the innovating bow design of the Groot Cross-Bow©. For Groot Ship Design this is the biggest design order so far since the company started at the end of 2005. The future owner of the ships, the Malaysian company PBHH (Pembangunan Buka Jijau Holdings Sdn.

Chinese Yard Launches SUPER GREEN 8500 for Carisbrooke

On Monday September 26, the Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Ltd. will launch Yno YZJ2010-931, the first vessel of the ‘SUPER GREEN 8500’ type for Carisbrooke Shipping. With this vessel the yard is the first Chinese shipyard launching a vessel with a Groot Cross-Bow®. Despite the economical difficult times more vessels with a Groot Cross-Bow® are under construction at the moment. The Dutch naval architect, Groot Ship Design, designed for Dutch / British Carisbrooke Shipping an innovating multipurpose cargo vessel, the 8500 dwt ‘SUPER GREEN 8500’.
