U.S. Offshore Vessel Owner Harvey Gulf Welcomes Philip Luongo as Executive VP

U.S.-based offshore vessel owner Harvey Gulf International Marine has said that Philip Luongo, a New York native and graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, has joined the company. After graduating Kings Point, Luongo upgraded his Unlimited U.S. Coast Guard License by sailing on deep sea vessels and operating production platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Luongo then transitioned shore side where he worked for BP for nine years, holding various leadership roles supporting the U.S Gulf of Mexico, Angola, Trinidad, Canada, and Brazil.

Horizon Marine – Modeling Brazil Currents

Horizon Marine has initiated a Joint Industry Project (JIP) with two Eddy Watch – Trinidad/Venezuela clients and a modeling group at the of to develop a dynamic numerical model for predicting the migration of North Brazil Currents (NBC) rings towards . NBC rings are energetic, deepwater oceanic features that carry 3.0+ knot currents and significantly interfere with offshore operations as they travel northwest along the coast from North Brazil to . Utilizing surface drifters and satellite remote sensing, Horizon Marine has successfully tracked the formation, separation, and migration of 46 powerful rings that have shed from the NBC for 15 different companies since September 2001.

Superior Energy Services Acquires Duffy & McGovern

Duffy & McGovern Accommodation Services has been acquired by US oilfield services firm Superior Energy Services Inc. The $47m deal sees Superior Energy Services continue its international expansion and complement its existing accommodation subsidiary HB Rentals, which is headquartered in Broussard, La. and provides accommodation and accessories to oil and gas companies in Oklahoma, Texas, the Rocky Mountains, Gulf of Mexico and Trinidad. As a result of the deal, Duffy & McGovern, which is headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland and whose staff and management team will all remain in position, will be investing some US$15 million (UK£7.6 million) with immediate effect to accelerate its fleet growth.

Chiles Offshore Signs a Three-Year Contract With BP

Chiles Offshore has executed a three-year contract with BP Trinidad and Tobago LLC for the use of the ultra-premium jackup drilling rig the Chiles Coronado, formerly known as Tonala. The Chiles Coronado is currently undergoing limited modifications and upgrades before leaving the Gulf of Mexico for Trinidad. The rig is currently expected to arrive in Trinidad during the month of September. During the contract period, contract revenues are estimated to approximate $80 million, exclusive of mobilization and de-mobilization fees.
