MAN Energy Solutions, Erma First Enter Strategic Partnership

MAN Energy Solutions Benelux via MAN PrimeServ Omnicare strategy will be providing after-sales technical support to vessels equipped with Erma First ballast water treatment systems calling at ports and repair yards in Northern Europe.Specifically, Erma First customers will be able to use the MAN Energy Solutions Benelux team of 20 based in Rotterdam and Antwerp for onboard equipment services. Birdon America Wins USCG MLB Contract

Birdon America Inc. has been awarded a $190 Million dollar contract to perform a Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for the U.S. Coast Guard’s (USCG) fleet of 47 foot Motor Lifeboats (MLB).The contract is a firm-fixed price (FFP), indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) for the design, development, testing, and upgrade/build of USCG MLBs over a period of 5 years with an option for an additional 5 years. James Fisher Buys Lexmar

James Fisher has acquired the entire share capital of Lexmar Engineering Pte Limited and Lexmar Sat Systems Pte Limited (together 'Lexmar'). Lexmar, which was founded in 1996 in Singapore and a specialist providing diving equipment, will become part of JFD and will enhance JFD's saturation diving capability and offering. Together JFD and Lexmar will improve the regional support and capability to defence markets within the Asia Pacific region. The business, complementary to JFD’s specialist technical division, is currently completing three 18 man twin bell saturation diving systems. They are currently in the process of undertaking installation and commissioning in China and will commence the third system in Singapore early 2017.

Kalmar Automation System for Melbourne's CT

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded a contract to provide an integrated automation system to handle operations at Victoria International Container Terminal Ltd's (VICT) new terminal in Melbourne, Australia. According to the contract, Kalmar will be responsible for the delivery of the control systems of automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) and AutoShuttles, and terminal logistic system (TLS) as well as for the integration of the system components and terminal operating system (TOS). The value of this new automation contract is approximately EUR 15 million and it has been booked into Cargotec's 2014 fourth quarter order intake. The contract follows an order for 12 ASCs and 11 AutoShuttles received in September 2014. Furthermore, the TOS will be provided by Navis, part of Cargotec.

Laborde Holds Open House at New Facility

To celebrate its new location in San Antonio, Texas, Laborde Equipment Services (LES) opened its doors to customers and associates at an open house. The facility was overflowing as the company welcomed over 125 guests at the event. Participants were given a facility tour, while also learning more about LES and its extensive line of products and services available to the South Texas market. Laborde's senior staff, including Tracy Laborde, Brian Laborde, Doug Oehrlein, Joe Manning, Jr., Trace Laborde, and Marc Laborde, was also on hand to welcome customers.

Laborde Opens New Texas Division

Building on its mission statement, "The Right Product, The Right Service, The Right Support", Laborde Products, Inc., headquartered in Covington, Louisiana, is opening a new division, Laborde Equipment Services (LES) in San Antonio, Texas. This new facility will provide service to the rapidly expanding San Antonio metro area and the exploding oil and gas Eagle Ford Shale market. Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) announced the launch of a new service for the ship repair market. The offer aims to streamline drydocking operations by allowing customers to take advantage of integrated ships agency, safety and equipment services from a single source. GE to Provide Equipment, Services for Statoil’s Gina Krog Platform

GE Oil & Gas was awarded a contract to provide Korean shipbuilding firm Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) with turbomachinery equipment and services for a new oil and gas production platform being built to support the production activities of Statoil Petroleum AS and its partners Total S.A. and Det Norske in the Gina Krog field in the Norwegian North Sea. Gina Krog (previously known as Dagny) is located 30 kilometers (km) northwest of the Sleipner field and approximately 250 km southwest of Stavanger, Norway. The development of Gina Krog will be among Statoil's major new developments with an estimated 225 million barrels of oil and gas. For the project, GE is supplying DSME with an integrated topside turbomachinery solution featuring products from several GE businesses.

Petrobas Signs for US$1.5-Billion Japanese Bank LOC

The lines of credit are for Petrobras to purchase equipment & services from Japanese companies in Brazil & abroad, based on an earlier MOU that established a strategic partnership between JBIC and Petrobras. Petrobras has signed two financing programs with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation - JBIC for the offer of two lines of credit amounting to US$ 1.5 billion. Mizuho Bank, Ltd. is the agent bank for these programs and the lines of credit will be 60% financed by JBIC and 40% by private Japanese financial institutions, which are insured by Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI). Petrobras say that they have built up a close cooperative relationshiop over many years with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, with a number of joint operations already implemented.

U.S. Shipyards Competing – and Succeeding – Overseas

Foreign Demand For U.S. Military And Commercial Vessels Is Brisk; For Now. In the heavy shadow of possible sequestration-induced federal budget cuts, some U.S. companies are busy supplying vessels to overseas customers under the Navy’s Foreign Military Sales program and through private contracts to foreign government and firms. Demand for offshore oil vessels is strong. A big chunk of overseas business now is under the U.S. FMS, transferring defense equipment, services and training to other nations. Countries approved for the FMS pay for vessels themselves and/or with U.S. government help.

D'Arcinoff Group Consortium Announces $4.6 Billion Project

D'Arcinoff Group, Inc. and its consortium partners will deploy the first phase of the $4.6 billion D’Arcinoff Group Energy Program (DGE), an integrated synthetic fuel, power generation and distribution project. D’Arcinoff Group expects to install its first phase 40,000 barrel-per-day alternative fuel facility in Hudspeth County, Texas, to be operational by the end of 2016. DGE is an environmentally clean, natural gas and biomass to liquid fuel and power generation initiative.
